Borrowing and Use Year Question

I was wondering if their is a minimum number of points you can borrow and also if you have to borrow points by a certain time in your use year? I'm thinking about borrowing 2 points to add to the 2001 banked points we are purchasing. It would allow us another day in an OKW studio. We would have to borrow from our 2003 allotment (October use year).

Also, in regard to the 11th and 7th month windows, does the whole month become open 11th months out (example, on November 1st can you book all of October?) or do you have to book your trip day by day, as each day hits 11 months out? I hope I'm making sense and that the questions aren't too silly!!

You could borrow from October 2003 for a September 2003 trip with an October use year. Are you using all your October 2002 points? There's no minimum or time limit for borrowing. Once borrowed, they cannot be returned to their original use year.

The window is day by day. You can reserve 11 or 7 months from your check-out day. For example, a Nov 1 to 8 trip, you would call on Oct 8 for your home resort. If you did day by day, you would book Nov 1 on Oct 2 (the night of Nov 1 checks out Nov 2) and so on. Day by day is really only necessary for a grand villa, boardwalk standard or a holiday.

When doing day-by-day, if the date to call falls on Saturday, Sunday or holiday when MS is closed, you must wait until the next day that they are open.

You can only borrow when actually making a reservation.

If the stay requires more points than you have available in your current Use Year, MS will usually suggest borrowinf from the following year's points- even if you only need 1 point. There is no minimum. They will also make sure you understand that, once borrowed, the points cannot be returned to their original Use Year and cannot be banked. they will expire at the end of the year they were borrowed into if you should have to cancel the reservation they were used for.

DebbieB, Actually all of my 2002 points are banked, so I can't use any of them until Oct. 2003. But I have 30 banked points from 2001 to play with which expire on 9/03/03. So, I'll be using those and borrowing 2 points from 2003 to give us a full 4 days (can't let those last 6 points go to waste after all!!
