Borrowed Point Allocation

We have 3 reservations for the same dates for a family trip in the fall using a combination of banked, current, borrowed points. We have every indication of keeping all 3 (actually still need to pick up one night on one of the reservations) but should we cancel how do we ensure that the banked and borrowed are used up first for any of the remaining reservations?

Is that something that requires a call or chat or will those points automatically be used first?

Would a cancellation inside 30 days on a reservation using banked/borrowed points have any other stipulation other than normal holding scenario?

I assume that any current year points could then be banked provided we are still withint he applicable period.

If you cancel an entire reservation and it is one that has some banked and/or borrowed then you will have to take an action to allocate those over to a reservation you are keeping that has the current points. You can do that yourself online using the modify option on the reservation you are keeping and go thru the selections choosing the exact same dates and if you have more than one contract making certain the one(s) with the banked/borrowed points is selected. Finalize that booking and it should adjust following the rules of using borrowed and banked points first and returning current points. And if you are still in your banking window at the time you cancel and reallocate points then you can bank any current points that are returned. Or you can call MS and ask them to reallocate. It only takes a minute or two to do it online though.

TY I think I understand how it works. This is only our second trip as owners and first using borrowed points, just wanting to educate ourselves in case one of our sons bails on it for whatever reason.
