Border crossing (driving) tips?

Per the Customs tariff book, everyone (including kids) is allowed to bring in $750.00 worth of goods after 7 days outside Canada. Therefore a family of 4 can bring back $3000.00 canadian dollars worth of goods. This can include alcohol and tobacco. Each adult is allowed 1.5 ltr of wine or 1.14 ltr of alcohol and 200 cigarettes.

I always get nervous going over the border. They always ask us where we work, how long were going for, where are we going etc. Very simple questions. We answer them and wait for the next one. We have to put our back window down as well so they are able to see my DD. They asked my DD where she was born? But usually they never ask her any questions.

Coming back we always have the total receipts but never seperated for each person.

Honesty with them is always the best policy
