Booster seats on drive to airport?

We are flying out of an airport about 50 minutes from our home, and are planning to take either a taxi or limo to the airport. I figure a booster seat will be required for at least the taxi, if not the limo... is this correct? If so, do companies have booster seats they can bring for the ride? Or if we have to bring our own, are there places at the airport to store them while we're gone?

Thanks for any information!

No.

It depends on the laws for your state.

You need to call the company you are using and ask. It varies.

That's a tough one. Honestly, if you are only talking a SINGLE booster seat...I would just leave some room in one of your checked-bags and check it. Or buy a car seat cover for $20 and put it in there when you get to the airport - then many airlines won't charge it as a checked bag.

No-back boosters fit pretty easily in any of the larger duffle-bag type luggage.

In your situation I would guess this would be easiest.

My other thought is to pick one up at a garage sale for $6 and then just throw it out at the airport - but then on the way home you're stuck without one....

We take our low back booster seats on the plane with us.

Each kid carries their backpack and booster seat.

The seat goes in the overhead compartment and meets all the carry-on requirements.

It would actually be two booster seats and we'd need to check an extra suitcase just for them. I checked the laws for our state and for-hire cars are exempt from needing them. We'll be taking the ME from the airport to the resort when we get there, and using Disney transportation to get around the park. It seems a bit overkill to bring them just for that ride to/from the airport. Especially if we get a limo...

I just don't know if I'm comfortable with them riding without them. Ugh. I have two months to figure it out though, thanks for the thoughts.

I look at it this way... if it is important enough to use a booster seat every day, then you should use it on vacation. The reasons you are using the seats aren't changing (ie the laws of physics remain the same) so that means the risk of injury is still there.

airlines let you check car seats and boosters for free. No need for a bag, just make sure they are labeled. They may get a little dirty, but mine has never been any worse for the wear.

OP- I would do some research and find an aiport limo/towncar service to bring you to / from the airport that provides booster seats and leave yours at home.

Just as an FYI Florida hire cars are not exempt from the car seat laws but FL only requires children up to age 3 to use them. Since you are using DME and Disney transportation that won't be an issue in FL for you though.

Many car services provide car/seats booster seats for free. Shop around for one that suits your needs. Our DD8 has been in a backless booster for quite a while at home and on our last couple trips (one to Universal and one with a really early flight so we didn't want to use ME) we just used the seat from the car service and it was fine. I don't think I'd do this with an infant or toddler, but with an older child that just needs a booster, I think it's a good option. :)

ETA : I agree with PP who said that if they use a seat at home, they need it on vaca. Those FL roads are very busy!
