Booking with June use year

This June I will be booking reservation for early May 2014. This is the first time I am booking so close to my use Year. Usually go to WDW in Oct/Dec. Is there anything I need to be aware of booking so close to my use year regarding my points? TIA

I have a June UY, and often book reservations for May.

There is a bit of a risk if you have to cancel. If you cancel the reservation after Januay 31, then you are past your banking window, and would have to find a way to use the points before June 1.

Other than that, using June points for a May reservation is no problem.

I have an October use year and this year had a vacation planned for September. We had to cancel one night due to work issues and lost those points. First time in 12 years we lost any points but it wasn't enough to call DVC and beg for a one time forgiveness (which has been reported to have happened). So the same could happen to anyone booking the month before your use year. We chalked it up as the cost of doing business in this instance.

You may want to look into travel insurance on that May ressie. Just in case you have any last minute cancelations.

we don't go to Disney in June july, or August months so that's why we have an August UY.

One more question.... Even though I am booking for May 2014 ,will I be using my 2013 points to book reservation? And if I need more points, I can borrow from 2014 use year?

Im almost in the same boat as you are. We have a June use yr and have a trip scheduled to DisneyWorld in April but are using 2012 points. As to what the prior poster stated about losing some points for cancelling 1 night, I would just upgrade to a bigger or more expensive room rather then lose the points.

Im almost We have is June use yr and I to Disney World to Disney World in April but are using 2012 points. As to what the prior poster stated about losing some points for cancelling 1 night, I would just upgrad 1 or 2 nights to a bigger 1 or 2 nights to a bigger room rat rather than lose those points good luck.
