Is it possible to book a vacation with the AAA discount without going through my AAA office?

Also, can you get the dinning plan when you book a room if you don't buy park tickets. ( I will have AP's)?

You can book "room only" simply by being an AAA member.

But if you want any sort of a package-- including the dining plan-- you'll need to go through an AAA agent. You can skip the tickets, but you'll need the Agent to get you dining.

so let me make sure I got this straight...if I were to book a room only reservation now and at a later date go to my AAA agent I could add the dining plan to the room only reservation wihtout buying park tickets

A package must include at least a one day magic your way park ticket. You would need this to be able to add the dining plan. I don't think you can just convert a room only to a package. I think it would have to be a completely new booking.

even if I had an AP?

I am booked room only, annual passholder, plus dining. (booked straight through Disney)

When you call, not all CM's are familiar with booking that, but I haven't had any issues other than them looking for the right code. You CAN combine an AP discount rate (if there is one) and the dining. You CANNOT combine the AAA rate and annual pass dining.

This is from elsewhere on this site:
"Annual Passholders can now add the Disney Dining Plan to their reservation. This will make the booking a package subject to the terms and conditions of those reservations. (Paid in full 45 days in advance, etc.)

Availability of the Disney Dining Plan add-on is limited and cannot be combined with any other discounts (AAA, Bounceback, etc.) It can be applied to a AP discounted room as well as one that's rack rate."

I have two reservations booked with AP dining, room only right now. Hoping for a discounted AP rate! Depending on when you're traveling, there may already be an AP discount rate out.

Since adding the dining in effect makes it a "package" you have a $200 deposit instead of the one night's stay + tax.

I forgot to add, you don't need to buy tickets to add the dining to an AP room only reservation.

Ok... so if someone could help me out here I would appreciate it.

as of right now my family (myself, DW, DD6, DD4) is booked (and all paid for) through AAA for Aug 6 - 20 at a All Star Movies with 10day Magic your way tickets + water park add on, and dinning.

also we each have from a previous trip one day base tickets that were never used.

I'm now wanting to go to AP's because we are now going to go again within the year. I have been told that we can only exchange one ticket or the other (10 day or 1 day base) Is there any way I can have AAA modify my booking so that it is room and dinnig only, so I can exchange the 1 day tickets upon arrival at guest services. Or is there any other way to do this, I ultimately would like to use both tickets towards the price of the AP's???

I hope this makes sense

I'll tell you what I did, and my plan, and we can see if it mirrors any to help you.

I booked a package through a travel agency, with 10 day park hoppers and deluxe dining. My travel agency mails me my tickets about 30 days prior to me leaving. Once there, I am exchanging my ten day tickets for my AP's. This is not effecting my dining package, which is already paid for with my package. In essence, they've sold me the package, it's up to me if I want to upgrade my tickets or not. Upgrading to the APs won't make my dining go away. I have two other reservations booked after my travel agency package, both booked AP room only + dining.

From everything I've read, you'll be able to take your 10 day tickets and upgrade them to APs once you're there without there being any problems with your existing dining. If on a future trip you want to add dining, you'll use the AP room only + dining thing.

You don't have to upgrade your tickets on day one, you can upgrade them anytime within 14 days of activating them. They will still credit the full 10 day amount to the annual pass, however the start date for your annual pass will be the day that you activated your ticket. Like, if you don't upgrade until day 9 on the ticket, your annual pass backdates to the first day.

Also, you can't combine tickets (like the 10 day and the 1 day) to use as credit towards one pass. You can upgrade either one, in this case upgrading the 10 day makes more sense. You could use your 1 day bases, then activate your ten day tickets, which gives you one more day on your passes in the long run.

If you have the water parks on your 10 day tickets, you'll have to upgrade to premium passes. (from what I've read, I've been investigating this pretty thoroughly but could have missed something.) This MIGHT be only if you've already used one of the days on it or if you've already used one of the water parks on it. If you exchange it before using any days on it, that might not be the case. Allears has a lot of info on this.

By the way, I did check with my travel agency about upgrading once I'm there, and she said I can do that if I want, it's not going to affect the package I've booked already.

is it possible to get a refund on a unused 1 day base ticket??

I don't think so. I got a refund on some Pirate and Princess party tickets when my mother had to have surgery and we couldn't go on our trip, but I was told that's usually not the norm. I've never heard of refunds on park tickets, but maybe someone who knows more about that will answer.
