I have just booked our first trip to Florida through Thompsons. I am a single mum travelling with my two teenage daughters and we are all really excited and can't wait til we go at Easter. Have booked what seems to be an extremely nice resort - Bahama Bay. Just interested to know of anybody's experiences with Thompsons or if they have stayed at this resort. :wave2:

Hi Mary,

Just wanted to say Welcome to the DIS :welcome:

I've personally not travelled with Thompsons or Stayed at Bahama Bay but there are lots of people that read this board that I am sure will be able to help you :)

If you have any other questions please feel free to ask away and we will all do our best to answer them for you :teeth:

Hope you have a great time and come back and tell us all about it.

Hi Mary, I have never stayed at Bahama Bay but I am familiar with the resort as we have looked around many different villas and apartments etc on our travels (my son is very fussy) ;)

BB is a lovely place to stay, very quiet and peaceful, not necessarily very close to all the theme parks but then most of this type of resort are at least 15 minutes drive away anyway.

We had a look around the facilities but not the rooms, what looks like a nice restaurant is there plus a good pool with spa too.
There is a Publix supermarket fairly closeby I think, near the junction of the 192 and US27.

From what we saw it looked a nice place to stay.

We went to Majorca in July and Florida in september both with thomsons and had no problems at all. we have always booked our holidays with them and lunn poly as they used to be known as and always found them very helpfull. :thumbsup2

Thank you guys for your lovely welcome messages and info - I'm so glad I found this great community of WDW lovers! You are all so cool. :cool1:

Welcome to the DIS

Have never stayed at Bahama Bay, but we have flown to Florida with Thomson twice before, the last time being 2004.

No problems at all, although the legroom on the plane is one of the least generous, although I know they are changing that (may not have altered by the time you go)

Everything was fine, but we didn't bother going to the welcome meeting as we had been to Florida before, but the rep still left us a package of information at the hotel.

However, now we've been a few times, we book DIY.

Have a great time.

We stayed at a villa in Hillcrest 2 years ago which is near Bahama Bay. It looks a realy nice place. It is reached of US27 on Florence Villa Grove Road, (enter where it says Lake Davenport Estates), & is a 20 min drive to Disney.

Hi there :wave2:

We travelled, to Florida, with Thomsons about 4 years ago :)

I seem to remember it was just a 'fly drive', as we stayed in timeshare accomodation, but we had no problems at all.
At the time the Thomson planes didn't have seat back tvs (no idea whether they do now :confused3 ) but, with a saving of £100 per person I decided we could live with that ;)

I'm sure you'll have a great time :goodvibes

You will have a fantastic time - but be warned once you go to Disney there is no where else like it that you will want to holiday again :rotfl2:

Hi there, I bet you are really looking forward to your trip

I went with Thomsons 2 years ago on a travel agents fam trip and you should have no problems with them they are a good travel company, if you have any problems while you are away (which I'm sure you won't) they have a service centre on International Drive which is manned by their reps. The planes were not as roomy as some I've been on and no seat back tv but the crew were nice, the food was good (for airline food) and I've been on much worse.

I've not stayed at Bahama Bay myself but one of my colleagues just go back from there last week and said he was very impressed and that it was very spacious and good quality. Because of where it is located you would really need a car to get around to get out to shops, restaurants and of course the parks.

We've flown four or five times with Thomson from Newcastle and Manchester. Flights are very basic and planes are not good for legroom. We've paid extra for legroom, £30 each way for an exit seat, the last couple of times and it's made all the difference.
