I booked my package for POFQ for the beginning of March 2008 this week and was looking into various packages through other places, ie DU and AAA. It turns out DU will save us approximately 300 dollars on a moderate. I just want to see what experiences other people have had with them and if you think it would be worth it to book through them since there will be about a 12% discount on our package price.

I've never booked a package -- I always do room only. But I've used DU several times and they are top-notch. Customer service can't be beat. If you're saving money on top of that, I don't think that you can go wrong.

We will only use Dreams--we've tried others, and can never beat the service we receive from Dreams.:thumbsup2 They will continue to search for discounts for you even after you book your trip. They've saved us so much that we've bought APs for this year. And we have 6 people in our family!

We're possibly thinking of booking with DU as well this time. I like the fact that they keep checking for discounts in order to get you the best deal :thumbsup2 .

I got a no obligation quote from them yesterday. The dates we are looking at is 10/22-11/2/08 with 8 day park hopper tix and the basic DDP, and 2 rooms at Pop. Tracy quoted us $4,924.01 for that package. There's about a $197 difference if we leave a day earlier. Not bad.

Make sure you are comparing apples to apples
There currently aren't any package discounts for 2008 unless you can get a AAA discount through AAA offices on packages

Any travel agent can get you the AAA discount on the room along and add park tickets

My sister recieved a quote from DU yesterday and they are the same exact price as WDW website...

You mean that there are no package discounts out for 2008 through Disney correct? According to their website, the quote that Dreams Unlimited gave me is for the 2008 MYW package with the DxDDP, as I selected in the form to get a quote. So I believe that the Disney discounts have not been released yet but that the DU TA has gotten me another discount but retained in a package and didn't have to separate everything.

I think what Joan1 was trying to say is:

There are no other discounts out for 2008. The only ones out are AAA, and you can only book a package with a AAA discount through AAA. DU cannot get you that discount on a package.

You should check to make sure that eveything in your package is exactly the same. Maybe you had Water park and more on your tickets through disney but DU did only Park Hoppers? Maybe Disney added in the trip insurance? Maybe you have a different view room?

basically the reason for the difference in price is not a discount, it has to be something else.

Well I just got an email back from DU and they quoted me for the wrong dates, a month earlier than I wanted which changes the season. So there is no price discrepancy and the DU quote was the same as Disney. Still waiting to hear back from AAA though on their rates. Thanks for the help everyone.

I believe that any travel agent can only get you the discounts that Disney has made available. I don't think they're authorized to provide their own discounts. You should be able to get the same deal by booking yourself, as any travel agent would be able to book. The reason for going with a travel agent is the customer service. The top notch Disney-centric travel agents will keep searching for better rates for you if they become available -- so you don't HAVE to!

This is exactly why I'm trying DU for my Jan 2008 trip. I have some family issues right now that I need to focus on, so I don't have the time or energy to be up at 7am every morning checking for discounts and staying on hold forever once they come out. DU has me booked with the AAA discount already, and will be there to check the AP and Resident discounts if and when they are announced. They've already saved me money and time, so I'm pleased. It's a little out of my comfort zone, because I'm used to doing everything myself, but due to the circumstances, I think it will be a win-win.
