Booking the Night Before, Arriving the Next Morning

Well, it's looking more and more that the earliest I'll be able to head south for the 4th GG is 5pm on the 3rd which if I can go straight through, I'll get there about 4 in the morning. However, I'm not stupid, so I'll probably end up stopping somewhere for a few hours over night.

I can't just pay off the reservation in full, cause it's an online reservation, so if I call the Fort front desk and tell them I'm running later than I thought, will they hold my reservation if I get there about 9 or 10 in the morning??

I really don't want to cancel the night of the 3rd cause I do want my site when I get there.

Sounds like you need a 2nd driver so you can trade out.

Carol, I asked that very question a couple of mos. ago and a few folks responded saying yes, call the desk like you said and they will hold that site for you, after all its paid for. I am also banking on that statagy for my Dec. 6th arrival. I hope to get there on sat. but it may be early sun. am. Oh by the way, I hope to get to meet you while we are there, I see you have a Dec. trip planned also. I will have a site in the lovely 1800 loop all lite up in Christmas cheer. We will have 3 superstars in the campsite: our then 9 mo. old gr. dau, and our beautifull Siberian Huskies. Come and see us!

Call the front desk sometime on July 2 or 3 & give them your credit card number & explain your situation. That should hold the site for you.

Been there done that..

If you call before 5 pm and tell you were delayed they can assign you site number over the phone.

I second to go ahead and call them before 5:00 that day....my dd got sick on our trip down last time and we ended up having to stop at the hospital right outside of Florida, it put us getting into the Fort about 3:30 am, we called them that afternoon and they told us to come on and gave us site 511, whenever we got there they were waiting inside with all our package ticket stuff ( we could have waited until morning but we wanted our stuff in hand ) .

We had car trouble on the way down a few years ago. I called the front desk around 8:00 p.m. and told them we wouldn't make it til the next morning. They held our site, and then didn't even charge us for that first night!

Thanks all!!! I'll program the Fort front desk number into my cell phone and give them a call if I can't get there by 6am.
