Booking ressie in advance and applying discount much later

I read that if you are booking soon and can choose between the 40% off pin code special or the 4/3 -that they can't apply one to the other. Would have to make new ressie etc. Well here is my question...not going until Jan 2010. If I make my ressie in a month or two and a pin code comes to my house by magic fairy (for the dates I'm there in 2010 so we're talking a long way in the future), would I be able to call and apply it without redoing ressie. In other words, once I make my ressie, I don't want to have to change it in order to apply a discount.

I believe if you book a package now, and a discount comes later, you can call and add the discount to your existing package (if it is available for your resort for the time you have booked). If a discount comes out and there is no availability for the resort you have booked and you want to use that discount, you may have to change your resort. Did I make sense?

You would not be able to book a package as there are not any right now for a 2010 arrival date.
You could book a room only res for a 2010 arrival. And later cancel that and book a package.
But really don't know that does much good. A room only and a WDTC package booking are two different creatures. A room only res cannot be converted into a package. The room only is simply cancelled and a package booked.
And all discount offers depend on availability and eligibility.
