Booking rental car through Costco website

Hi,

I want to book my car through Costco. I am a Costco member. Here's my problem:

While picking up a car at MCO a couple of years ago the customer in front of me was denied their booking and the agent said that they could not honor a third party reservation. Luckily I had a direct reservation with the company(don't remember which one but a major agency) so I did not have the same problem. Is Costco considered a third party booking? I don't want to be denied my reservation based on what I witnessed firsthand.

Do not worry about Costco bookings. I book all the time via the Costco website, and you DO get an Alamo (in my case its usually Alamo for MCO trips) reservation number, and a Costco reservation number.

You won't have any problems. I often check Costco for car rentals, but have never found them to have the lowest price.

I'm a Costco member and was able to book directly on the Alamo site by using the Costco code which I saw on the Costco booking site.

Like Pete above, I usually book directly on the Alamo site using the Costco codes. Also note that Alamo is now asking for the Costco membership number when you book, so have that ready.

Two of us booked Budget through Costco last fall, and had no issues whatsoever (at least not related to booking through Costco). We had Budget reservation numbers that we could view on their website.

I book my rental cars through Costco frequently. They have always been the lowest price for me. They give you rates for 4 car companies side by side so you can pick the best for your size. I don't like the Budget counter at MCO, so usually pick Alamo there and can go straight to the car. 2nd driver is free too through Costco.

My experience has been that using the Alamo site directly with Costco codes gives the same rate as going thru the Costco site. Sometimes I've gotten better rates than the Costco site by using the Costco Contract ID and a coupon from a different source (like Entertainment). (Of course, decent Alamo coupons seem to be few and far between these days)
