I am considering a purchase in the DVC but need some advice from people who are already members. How far in advance do you need to book your reservations? A lot of times, I book my vacations 2 months out. Will I be able to find available rooms this close out? We ate in EPCOT a few weeks ago and just happened to be seated next to a DVC member. He told us that he used to have major problems getting availability and wanted to get a refund but the DVC worked things out to make him happy. Any suggestions? I'm a newcomer and know very very little about DVC and how it works.

Well, I booked for the busiest time of year at DVC....Christmas. A 2 bedroom at BWV for 2 nights then Saratoga Springs for 5 nights in October of this year (only 60 days in advance). It can be done but if you are choosey you need to book alot earlier like 6 to 11 months in advance. Good luck!!!!

As long as you have an open mind about your ressie, then you should be ok. If you have a specific resort then you many want to book farther out. We just bought and cannot wait till Spring Break at Vero and our first trip home to SSR in July 06. Good luck with your decision.

IMHO, if you tend to book 60 or less prior to arrival, you are going to be frustrated more often than not. I would advise against buying DVC if this will be your norm for booking.

DVC works best for those who can plan at least 7 months out. I'm not saying that you can't ever find last minute accomodations (especially if you don't care at which DVC resort you stay and are flexible with the dates and room size), but IMHO, it's a 50/50 proposition at best. Certain times of the year will not be possible at all if you wait until the 60 day mark to book.

On another note, I'd love to know how "DVC worked things out to make him happy". Booking rules apply to everyone equally. If DVC did anything other than explain how things worked, the rest of us might be a little miffed!

Best wishes -
