We are sailing on one of the Norway/Iceland cruises this summer and I can tell that in some of the ports there will be a mad rush to book Port Adventures because there are not a lot of local alternatives. The problem is our group is at all different levels of CC membership. Our immediate family are gold level, my mom (who will be sailing in the same cabin with my 2 kids, who are at gold level) is at Silver, and my sister and her husband have never cruised before.

So how does the excursion booking work? Do we each have to wait until the appropriate time to book? Since my mother is actually in the cabin with my kids, am I allowed to book at the Gold time for her? (I seem to remember being able to book Palo for her when we sailed together the last time??) And right now only my mom's reservation is tied to ours (because our kids are in her cabin, which is next door to ours), but if I tie my sister's reservation in as well will that make me have to wait until 75 days out to book??

Each room's excursion booking window opens based on the highest CC level booked in that room. If you want everyone's window to open at the same time, I'd suggest that you put one of your kids in your sister's room. That way everyone's window opens at 105 days (Gold level).

Otherwise, only the two rooms (yours and Grandma's) will open at 105 days, and your sister's will open at 75 days.

While you might see your sister's name on your excursion booking, if they remain at 75 days, it will be grayed out until their window actually opens.

hmmm....this is why I love this board. I find out so much information! I am rapidly coming to the conclusion that I need to put my daughter in with her auntie (my sister). The cabins are all right next to each other so it should not be a problem and there's no $$ impact at all. Otherwise it will be a complicated logistical nightmare to get us on the same excursions!

And, regardless of who's booked in what room, you can have everyone sleep where you want them to. Just ask your room host to make up the beds in each room the way you want them.

Oh, another thing I'll point out, with your kids in a different room (they are minors, right?) you'll have to fill out a form allowing you to take them off the ship, if the adult(s) in the rooms that they are booked in are not departing the ship at the same time as you would be with them (the kids).

Good point! And I have no issues with that, since it's all in the family :) If we have them in separate rooms with g'ma and auntie, and have filled out paperwork for *them* to be able to take the kids off the ship, but we (the parents) take our girls off the ship on our own, will there be an issue?

Only the adults in the room that the kids are booked in can take them off the ship. Yes, that means, even if you're the parents, you need to have the form (I believe signed by them - the other adults) filled out for you to take them off the ship, if they (the adults in the kids rooms) are not also coming at the same time.

Wow! Crucial! I'm glad I asked you to clarify. I will make sure we have everyone give everyone else permission for everything! :)
