My sister and I will be going down to WDW for new years. We will be leaving on Dec 30, 2002 and returning Jan 5, 2003 and looking into booking at the All Stars

Now I know rates for 2003 are not out yet. The first two days are holiday season and the last 4 are value season, so two questions:

- when you book over different rate periods does the rate change when the season changes? or are we stuck at holiday for the entire stay (unless one breaks up the ressies)

- since the reservation starts in 2002 do we get the 2002 rates for the entire stay? or will the 2003 rates (that aren't out yet) going to kick in on the 1st?

any help would be appreciated.

I'm not absolutely sure but I think it will be either/or....you could have one reservation at the 2002 holiday rate or make two getting the 2003 value rate for your January nights. I imagine that will be the less expensive route but as you noted those rates aren't out yet. We're from Naperville, too, and will be there at the same time :) .

Hello from another Chicagoland DISer! I'm up near Schaumburg!

BCV is correct--you can either do one reservation paying the holiday price the entire time, since that is the rate you checked-in under or you'll need to break them up into two reservations. They won't be able to guarantee your 2003 prices yet but they'll adjust it when they come out.

We will be there exactly on those dates. Check in Monday, December 30 and checking out on January 5. We already booked and paid for our reservations at OKW by renting points from a DVC member. We got a great rate for the "holiday" nights, and even better for the value season nights, based on their points. The last two nights, Friday and Saturday, DVC points shoot up, so we are staying at another deluxe (during value season) hopefully with a good AP discount or code.

I don't know what is available for those dates, though. I know that the studios do rent out quite quickly. BTW, I "met" the person we're renting from on these boards.

Like I said, this is just another consideration.

Well on all of family's New Years trips we just made 1 reservation (for example Dec. 26-Jan 3) and Disney then adjusted the room prices when they dropped after the holiday rate ended- usually on Jan 2. I know that we never made 2 reservations because we were staying in 2 different pricing levels. Maybe things have changed in the past couple of years

FW--

I think they started doing this last year (I think). Now, whatever season you check in is the price you pay for the entire time. Works great if you check in at the end of a value season (esp. at Christmas when it then jumps to holiday prices!!!).

Dopeygirl-
Wow that is great news ! I wonder why in the world Disney did that though. A person could really save big bucks by checking in right before holiday season. Has Disney gone crazy ? :D I bet that is why Disney recently - I bet it was the same time as they changed that policy - changed when the holiday season started.

I am 99% positive that value or regular season at the deluxe resorts used to run through December 25th but then holiday season started on December 26th. I remember that my family thought it was so weird that Christmas wouldn't be on holiday rates. We never benefited from that though cause we always spent Christmas at home with the family and checked into WDW on the 26th. I have noticed that the that the holiday rates start on December 20th now so I guess it is because of the new pricing policy.

Well ya learn something new everyday! I hope that I can take advantage of the new policy someday :)
