Booking Oct 1st, 2011 Weekend (40th Anniversary)

Anyone think it will be more difficult than usual to get rooms at 7 months out for this weekend?

We are hoping to book a BoardWalk standard view studio for that weekend, but are thinking it's going to be extremely difficult at 7 months. Isn't this typically a really tough time to book, to begin with, because of Food & Wine Festival and the low point charts?

I'm wondering whether enough DVC'rs will come to town specifically for the 40th to make a serious impact on the bookings (or difficulty to book) for that weekend. Any thoughts?

I can tell you that we will be there that weekend! We currently have a BLT 2bedroom lock off, but would like to change to OKW or BW at the 7 month mark...

We will be there too...just realized too that we will be there for the big 4-0 of WDW! We booked BLT at 11 mo out and had to get LV bc all the Std were gone already...at 11mo!!

What special activities might WDW do? I didn't realize it was the big 4-0 this year. Maybe I'll have to see is DH wants to go for it.

Thats what I am worried about too. We will be celebrating my 35th bday and our 10 year anniversary. I thought it would be less crowded then but some of the hotel rates from Oct 1 are pretty expensive (when they usually have great rates). So I am a little concerned that it will be super crowded.

That's going to be very difficult. Those standard views go quickly. With F&W, it makes it even harder.

There are also two big running events that weekend: Mickey's Halloween 5K and the Wine and Dine Half-Marathon. That brought TONS of people in last year.

YUP! DH is going to run the 5K!!

It's the beginning of F & W like you said so it could tough to get in on that weekend, the first weekend of F & W I think. It seems October is becominig more and more popular. Be on that phone at 8:59 when its 7 months out.

Thanks for the responses. Not what I wanted to hear, but what I expected to hear. We'll probably just end up banking and do Swan or Dolphin OOP, unless a good price comes along for something else.

I'll be at BLT for the 40th. I hope WDW does something special. I doubt I'll be around for the 50th.
