Booking non home resort for June, July, august

i would have to read the sales docs, but i doubt that disney could make such a basic change. their sales pitch have stressed the ability to book at any disney resort with your points.

they changed their exchange program form Interval International to RCI a few years ago, but this was just changing exchange companies. It serioisly inconvenienced me though.

Vero Beach has the highest annual fees but that is offset by the lowest resale values.
I did a calculation a while ago, and determined that OKW was the best overall value - price and annual fees.

But everyone here has their favourite. No matter what you buy, you will be happy.

Myabe you haven't heard the latest. Points bought as a resale after March 21 may no longer be used for the Disney Collection. Basically, using your points for anything but the resort they are from is a perk and can change.

Based on the POS, you can be restricted to your home resort if your home resort was pulled from the group. While it is certainly not something very likely with the WDW resorts, and probably not likely for VB and HH, it is possible.

If the resort is taken out of the group, then you would not have the right to trade any longer.

People really need to understand this going in. And, with the changes that are occurring with resale, even if it is allowed, there are likely to be changes down the road that might affect components of the program that are not guaranteed.

Buy at a resort that you want to be at or buy at one you are comfortable with to achieve your goal since at the end of the day, that is probably all you are truly guaranteed.

Also the booking window could change too. Like 11 months home.. 4 months non home. Or a fee to switch to non home, or a min length of stay I think 2 days is common in almost all time shares. (For cleaning purposes.)

There is almost nothing that can be garenteed, except staying where you own. Buying where you will not be disappoineted makes more sense, for not much more. If the goal is WDW, then buy somewhere at WDW not off site.

The summer months are actually easier to book at 7 months than many other months of the year. I don[t think you will have a problem getting something at 7 months.

Agreed. We've had no problem staying anywhere we wanted during the summer. That being said, we've booked studios and 1BRs only. I don't know if it's because of higher point requirements, but it seems that summer is the easiest time to secure a reservation.
