For an upcoming trip my parents will be coming with us and we are looking at booking two rooms. I know I can book up to 3 rooms with my AP discount and they have to be booked separately but could I put my parents names as the lead guest for their room or do me or my wife have to be listed on it?

I've booked rooms for myself and rooms for my son and his family with my AP discount and put his name as the name on their booking. He is connected to me in MDE as family and so are his SO and their daughter. We don't stay in the same resort. He has had no problems but he always goes to the front desk and checks in in person just to double check to make sure his MB is going to unlock the door.

You should use the names of the people who are staying in the room when you make the booking. The AP discount lets you reserve up to three completely separate room reservations. The travel dates just have to be the same.

Thanks for the information. Do I have to do anything when they check in or show my AP at their check in?

Nope. They actually checked in hours after me, I was in Epcot at the time and had already checked into my resort hours earlier. I was at CSR and they were at one of the All Stars.
