Booking more than 7 nights at a non-home resort at 7 months?

What is the best way to book a 10 night trip at the 7 month mark? This is assuming the nights are available which I know is not always the case. But if they ARE available what is the best way to get nights 8, 9 and 10? It looks like I can only book 7 nights at a time at the 7 month window.

Two options:

1. Book the first seven nights as soon as the booking window opens. Call back (either daily or 3 days later) to extend the reservation.
2. Wait until 3 days after the window has opened and book the entire stay.

If you believe that waiting 3 days would result in not getting the first 3 nights, use option 1.
