Looking to book a 10 night stay at 11months and realizing that I can't book more than 7 nights at a time. Should I book the 7 and modify the booking each day? Should I just wait an extra 3 days until all nights become available? What's the best strategy?

For piece of mind, I’d modify and add a night each day. It’s highly unlikely you’d get shut out by booking all 3 days on the third day, but there’s always a chance.

I’d book the 7, then go back and modify 3 days later. But depends on what you’re trying to book… some rooms remain available well into the 11 month mark. Others can’t be booked even at exactly 11 months out at 8am.

You’re safe waiting the three days to add on to the end. Nobody else can grab nights in your room until 11 months from your original checkout day. It’s just like walking the reservation except you’re not dropping the days from the front end.

Right, but it has happened, for example, if rooms are scheduled for maintenance and such. More of a risk in a rare category with few rooms.

I do this every year, and I modify every day to add a day at a time. It's probably overkill, but better safe than sorry :)

I think you’d be okay waiting but just be sure to modify before the check out day if the 7 night.

So, doing it each day does allow the flexibility to not needing to worry to be on right at 8 am. Waiting the 3 days still works unless the unforeseen happens and they take rooms out for service But that is extremely rare.

Once you reserve a room for 7 nights at exactly 11-months out, no one else can reserve that room for any dates at all that are 11 months out, or later, until 11-months out from your designated departure date. Thus, if you want to add nights, you could do so by adding one night daily after you reserve, or you could just wait up to six days and add all the extra nights at the same time. It just needs to be done at least one day before 11-months out from your designated departure date. And you do not need to do that addition at exactly 8 a.m. You just need to do it at any time during the particular day you make the change.

The one risk to waiting and not doing it daily is the possibility that a room or rooms in your booking category gets designated for closure (for maintenance or refurb) for dates beginning after your initial 7-night reservation because that would take a room (or rooms) out of service and the remaining rooms for those extra dates that you want may be filled by others reserving after you reserved. That is probably an extremely low risk for waiting a few nights before doing the addition of dates to your reservation rather than adding a night daily, but one cannot definitely conclude it is necessarily a zero risk.

Really, I have booked 20 days at one time? My last trip was for 14 days. Booked no problem.

That can be done as long as you are within the window for all of those and not booking right at 11 or 7 months.

I could go on today and book 20 days if I was booking May 2023 now that we are well into the window

If, for example, you book at 10 months out, you can book 20 or 14 nights at your home resort all at once if room is avaialble. However, you can book no more than 7 nights at exactly 11 months out. You can add days or book more thereafter. Look at the rule this way: you can book as many nights as you want (the online system may not do more than 28 but you can call and do more). However, when booking (or modifying), your designated date of departure from the resort can never be more than 11 months plus 7 days from the date you are doing the booking (or modification)

Thanks everyone! Will most likely book the 7 at the 11 month mark and then modify and add on the extra days.
