Hi all!
I would like to book Lightning Lanes 7 days ahead for my upcoming trip - we are staying onsite and I know that it is not currently possible to book LLs for guest passes at the 7 day mark. I see that guidance is that cast should book LLs for themselves at 7 days ahead and then try and coordinate guest pass LLs at 3 days ahead. I am concerned about this as during my last trip, it would have been impossible to get the same rides/times at the 3 day mark for guest passes. Has anyone managed to make this work?

I have been told by cast to try and coordinate as best I can and then speak to the cast at the umbrellas in the parks to see if they can modify the times manually. Is this actually a thing, or something that people have had success with? I don’t want to risk paying for LLs only to not be able to coordinate them.

I really don’t want to have to use comp tickets in lieu of guest passes simply to be able to book LLs at 7 days ahead, but equally, I don’t want to risk waiting until three days ahead and not get the rides we need.

I never heard of this, my last trip we just booked at 3 days but nothing was really left except in afternoon when we usually take our break to rest. Again, we are a group of 4, with only one person on a guest pass.

Thanks Pat - I had worried that this was the case. If I knew they’d match up the bookings for me I’d buy LL a lot more. I really wish there was a way for the guest passes to be linked to resort reservations.

I also need my son using a guest pass, NOT to need to apply to DAS every day of our vacation. They took away the prior procedure of assigning him a card that was assigned to him (with photo) and put the DAS on that card. (they still do this for kids under 3 who need DAS).

DL is easier with no guest passes. (but I have not tried DAS there since the DAS changes, I guess applying daily in person)

I just did this for our trip last week. Unfortunately we can only book 3 days out on our passes. It was very easy to do through MDE.

We were at WDW during spring break the week of 2/17 and broke down and bought multipass for HS and MK for 4 of us. Booking 3 days out we only got offerings for late afternoons on the MK day. We decided to just book a character meal in the am and then head to MK in the afternoon. It was packed but I knew we would not be able to spend the whole day there with a 1 year old and a 3 year old. We spent the afternoon/evening and rode our prebooked rides and then a few more but I felt a less busy time of year we would have gotten much more use of the multi-pass.

For HS we got there for rope drop and stood in the standby line for Slinky Dog as that was main thing our 3 year granddaughter wanted to ride (we couldn't get that with multi pass...no times left). We then used the multi pass for some other rides but park was also very busy.

All in all I am glad we finally tried the multi-pass....now I have a better understanding on how it all works for next time. I do wish they would let us book 7 days out with our pass AND our guest passes....there is no way we would have gotten similar times if I booked at 7 days out and they booked at 3 days out. Should be an easy things for Disney to do.

Oh...also I was not able to make a reservation for Animal Kingdom at all until the morning we wanted to go. It was blocked out but opened up when I checked in the morning and we hurried over there

Ok another question…. Used 5 comp tix to book MK 7 days out. This was before I realized I could use my MEP and book 7 days out for me. So basically wasted a comp tix. Is there any way to change what tix media we used to book a park reservation? Do I have to cancel the whole park reservation and book it again using a MEP and 4 comps? Would I lose all my multi pass selections already made for that day?

I would cancel your comp ticket and rebook with your MGP. If for some reason, you can’t get the same times and rides everyone else has, you can find someone at one of the guest umbrellas to help you match with everyone else. We have never had a problem matching everyone, especially if you are only talking about one guest.

You are welcome. Have fun. We are doing an Epic Universe preview and at the end of the month we are doing the DVC MoonLight Magic event at Epcot. Busy month.

I just got back from a WDW, and in our group of 3, only my son uses a guest pass and that meant dealing with the 3 day window. Not good. For October I think I will WASTE 2 comp tickets on my son just to get the 7 day booking window access. It kills me to do this, vs. gifting them to a friend or something. I would probably use for MK, but in a way MK isn't AS bad because there are so many rides there to choose from.

We've done that with comp tickets as well, so that we can book our daughters' LLMPs at 7 days out with ours. Ugh! Of course, we're all very grateful for these CM perks -- but I really do wish they'd update the system to allow Guest Passes to be linked/unlinked to individuals and, in turn, an onsite resort reservation so that the 7-day LLMP booking window could be utilized.
