Good Morning!

New to DVC and just trying to figure out some logistical things that I haven't been able to find during research. We are planning to book our home resort at CCV after we receive our closing documents in order to lock in for our trip during November 22nd-27th. However, we are going with a group of friends that wants to stay at BWV or BCV. Is there a way to switch to one of those once the 7 month window rolls around while having CCV locked in as a backup? Thanks!

Yes, there is a modify reservation option on the web site. Just select that option on the morning of your 7 month window. It is easy to do and works surprisingly well. You can also set up waitlist if there is no availability at your preferred resorts.

22-27 November is thanksgiving week and when you say traveling with friends I assume you need a 2br.

It’s not that miracles don’t happen but don’t count on it. BWV and BCV are some of the resorts with most demand on top Disney have decided to extend food and wine until 23rd of November.

If you haven’t done so already you need to book your home resort.

I haven’t checked availability for CCV but my guesstimate is that the resort I fully booked.

If you are a direct buyer you do have some luck. As a new owner Disney will make your first booking for you(welcome home booking) They can’t however guarantee you that you will get CCV as the booking window have been open for a very long time. They will try and get you in somewhere, I think most likely SSR, OKW or AKV as they are the largest resorts.

To get this you should call your guide and have him/her ensure that the welcome home booking is done.

ETA
Only resort will full availability is SSR. Depending on the number of points you have bought, a cabin is also available at CCV but that will set you back 500 points.

For those dates, the only thing with full availability* is 1BR P/G at BWV, 1BR at BCV and a cabin at CCV. Once the 7-month window officially opens, I suspect that the 1BR's at BWV and BCV will go fairly quickly. I wouldn't plan on using DVC points for this trip unless you are willing to waitlist. Book a cash room that you can cancel if the waitlist fills. That way you at least have a room.

*"Full availability" means that there is at least ONE room available for the entire period you are looking to book.

I would expect to need your guide to help with a "Welcome Home" visit, and I would also expect to book a 2BR, not multiple studios.

And I would expect that not to be available at BWV or BCV for that time period. Even Disney cannot make rooms magically appear at a completely booked resort.

Yeah. Cash they have 1BR units, but not 2BR units. There's a couple resorts with cash 2BR units that might be something a guide could claw back. Too soon for Riviera.

Thanks! It's only 4 of us and we're fine with sharing smaller spaces. My guide told us to call MS, but they couldn't find anything so they just put us on a waitlist. I am planning on booking somewhere else once the 22nd rolls around but not sure what is available at the moment.

You're a new member and just bought direct and your guide just foisted you to MS?

You have a terrible guide. Wow.

At the moment, only a 1BR at BWV and a 1BR at BCV are available for your dates, unless you want the cabin at CCV. There are NO STUDIOS at ANY resort that are currently available for your dates so do not plan on anything being available on the 22nd either.

Yeah I agree. My guide offered to do this off the bat when I was buying, I declined because of when my trips were (11 months out). But he said the guides have a number they call to ask to pull back inventory if possible. Though I was informed I’d have to be flexible on room type and resort.

1 bedroom units will be available for your dates at 7 months out (in a couple weeks), but you gotta be on the ball morning of to get the reservation. There will be a mad rush.
