Booking Help Needed!

I'm a relatively new DVC member and I just want to make sure that I have this right. Here is the scenario:

I have a September use year and want to book Aulani in November of this year. As I understand it, I should be able to use any banked points, any remaining 2010 use year points, all my 2011 use year points, AND I can also borrow against my 2012 use year points. Do I have this right???

If your banked points are from September 2009 - August 2010 use year then I believe those banked points must be used by the end of August 2011.

Banked points cannot be carried over from year to year to year. Thus, if you've not completed travel on banked vacation points by the end of the use year into which they‘ve been banked, those points will expire.

If you have a Sept Use year and are traveling to Hawaii in Nov of 2011 - you will be in your 2011 use year when taking the trip. You may use any banked 2010 points (must be banked by April or May) and all of your 2011 use year, and any points you want to borrow from your 2012 use year. If you have banked points available right now (these would be 2009 points banked into 2010) they must be used prior to Sept 1, 2011 and therefore cannot be used on the Nov trip. It is not about what is available to use when booking but what is available to use when traveling.

Ah, ok, thanks for the heads up on the banked points. I thought they just had to be used to book something before the end of the use year and was unaware that travel had to be completed by then too.

What about the current year's points that need to be banked or used by September. They would be good for November travel, right?

Your current Use Year points need to be used by August 31, 2011 or banked by April 30 to extend their use thru August 31, 2012.

A November, 2011 reservation at Aulani (or any other DVC resort) with a September Use Year could use points banked from the 2010 Use Year, points from the 2011 Use Year and points borrowed from your 2012 Use Year.
