My friend and her family (2 adults and 3 kids) are going to Florida to visit her father over spring break during Easter week. He is about 3 hours from Disney, so they would like to take a 3 day/2 night visit there while they are in Florida. I have offered to book them a room and have enough points for a 1BR standard view at BLT or a 1 BR savanna view at AKL. I currently have the BLT room held because it was the last one available. Given the crowds during this week, and since they are only going to be there a short time, I thought BLT would be nice since it is on monorail and within walking distance to MK. However, since they may want to swim in the afternoon time to avoid largest park crowds, maybe I should switch them to AKL would due to the neat pool complex they have for younger kids. Just wanted to hear others opinions. Thanks!

Well, I voted for the savannah view at Kidani if you can get one. I happen to love AKV and I think the savannah view is worth any extra bus travel time.:goodvibes

I too voted for AKL. I think this is one of the most relaxing places at WDW, Kidani more so than Jambo.

Given it is only a 2 night stay, I think the monorail would be the most convenient. Especially if they want to go to EPCOT. But, it would really depend upon which parks they want to do. If they want to go to AK, I would go with AKV. If they are MK/EPCOT oriented, I'd stick with BLT.

I agree with Chuck. It all depends on what parks they will spend time at. If it's going to be mostly MK, then stay with BLT

The walk from BLT to MK is worth a HUGE value to me when its busy...no waiting for transportation lines there...(its not the time ON the bus that I'd be worried about, its the time/lines waiting to get home from MK that would be the issue)...

The monorail on the other hand is not always helpful...its not THAT fast/easy to use the monorail to get from BLT to EPCOT....

I think both would be spacious enough though for their family of 5...

Although I LOVE AKV, I hate their bus schedule during busy season. Last Christmas we waited over 30 minutes each time for a bus. BLT may be better for such a short stay....since the decor is so different...maybe ask them what they prefer ~ Safari getaway or easy access to MK and dining options.

Buses are usually very good at AKV, and with only 3 days, I'm quite sure they aren't going to do a lot of park hopping. I voted for AKV because it is so much a destination in itself.

Unless they're die-hard MK lovers, I think AKV is the way to go. Both Kidani and Jambo have beautiful pool set ups, and are a very different experience with all the animals and African inspired culture around they might not otherwise get to experience.

Thinking about this some more... BLT has location and the marina (which I adore). You can easily hop a boat over to FW or WL. Monorail to Poly & GF. Double monorail to take them to EPCOT.

You can't do wrong with either.

Why don't you give them the choice? Have them look at pictures on allears.net and/or the Disney website? Explain the pros and cons of both resorts. Also, because they are going to be there for such a short amount of time, ask which parks they are most interested in visiting.

I have never been there but I am using this logic too

I could easily go either way in terms of a park-only visit.
I love the savannah (somewhat makes the room its own attraction) and I love MK.

To me the final determination would be any planned resort dining. If they want CM or Ohana... then definitely BLT. They may prefer that if they stayed on the monorail before.

I'll echo some of the other opinions here, see exactly what their park and dining plans are and decide from there.

#1 tell them the options.
#2 let them make the decsion, let's you off the hook.
#3 young kids and animals can not be beat IMHO.

if you go with BLT - the monrail situation won't be fixed at the time - so would suggest that if they stay until closing at Epcot - instead of the monrail take the bus to WL and boat over to CR

or walk over to the BC and take the mk bus to mk then walk over to BLT.
