I'm sorry if this question has been asked before, I did a search and couldn't find the info I'm looking for. Anyway, here is my question:

I have read that the rates for 2007 are going to be released Aug/Sep. time frame. Our family is cruising on the magic on Dec. 17-24. I know the farthest away you book it will be the lowest price so I'm wondering if we should book as soon as the rates come out or wait until we're onboard? Will the rates climb between when they are released and the end of Dec. Thanks so much!!

You got it exactly. Book when the rates come out immediately. Then, rebook on board, get your 10% off and the stateroom credit, and then transfer to a local agent (like Dana @ MICDAN.COM), and get even MORE of a savings. This is exactly what we did in October of 2004 when the 2006 rates came out and for the 4 staterooms we have with 11 people total we've saved just under $7000. pirate:

StuartMI,

thanks for the reply! Maybe its just because its monday morning, but this is still a little grey for me so here are a couple of more questions. To rebook onboard I'm guessing you need to cancel your 1st reservation so you wouldn't receive that initial early booking price anymore, is that right? What about cabin assignment, would you loose the cabins that you picked out if rebooking. So is the only advantage to booking when the rates are first released is to get the best room location? Thanks again,

Laura

Not necessarily. What happened with US is that we booked 4 rooms with 4 reservations on 10/4/2004 for the 7/8/2006 cruise. 3 of the 4 rooms we immediately transferred over to Dana @ MICDAN.COM however the 4th room (for DW and myself) we kept with DCL since we would be cruising a month later in November of 2004. So, we got on board, and she kept the same stateroom and same reservation. Basically everything was the same except she discounted it 10% and gave us a $200 credit. I believe the file # changed however the cost certainly went down. Then, when we got home we took the new file # and the new, lower, price, and transferred that one over to Dana as well and got even more of a savings.

So, book early, get your rooms secure, and then they'll take care of you on board. You won't lose your staterooms.
