We weren’t supposed to go again until May 2025, but have just decided to bump it up to May 2024 instead. We really wanted to do a once in a lifetime trip this time and treat ourselves to first class on the flights. Right now, on Virgin it’s £4864 for two adults direct for Upper Class. Is that a good price? Or should we wait and see? And when would it normally get cheaper? Also is there much of a difference between the airlines when it comes to travelling first class/business class?

That's a very good price. We went back in September and Upper Class prices were £3K each from LHR to MCO. We ended up buying Premium seats and using points/miles to upgrade instead.

I thought it wasn’t too bad as we’ve been looking at it before and have never seen anything less really, but someone on Facebook said it was expensive. We were originally going to treat ourselves for first class for our 2020 trip that obviously never happened, but then it would’ve been something like £10k for a round trip flight, but I think we paid about the same for premium economy going out and UC coming back.

There’s a little trick when looking at Virgin flights if you change the flexible date to flexible calendar then you can scroll through months easier. You do this by changing the url manually from flexible-dates to flexible-calendar as below
Cheapest from LHR around your dates is £4,584 for Jun 4th-18th, you might want to double check MAN and EDI if they are convenient for you too.

Thanks, I never knew you could do that :)

Prices for flights, especially first class, can vary greatly. It might be helpful to compare with other airlines or use a service like jacks flight club customer service to track price changes and deals. As for the differences between airlines in first class/business class, they can be significant in terms of service, comfort, and amenities. It's always a good idea to research and compare to ensure your once-in-a-lifetime trip is everything you want it to be.
