I am booking a surprise trip for my family, first week in october.
Is there anyway of knowing what deals will be offered then? Probably not... next question: If I book thru DL online and a great deal comes up later, do they match it/honor it or are you just out of luck? I wonder if I should just cool my heels a bit, since there are no deals around now anyway. What could it hurt to wait a while to book... except that all the hotels will be booked of course. ? any ideas/advice? Im having a hard time because im trying to be sneaky! If I could ask my husband his opinion, this would be easier!

I know for a fact that they are offering 4th night free at all 3 Disney hotels and at a handful of Good Neighbor Hotels. But I would call now, b/c I also know for a fact that the rooms are going very fast and avaliablity for the resort hotels is sparse.

Call Disney for a package-who knows-you might get to talk to me.

Contact magic for less, I worked with Carla on our trip. I think they do match the better deals if any come up later, and you can book an offsite hotel and just put a down payment to hold the rooms. Let me know if you want her email. We got a lot of the perks that come with booking thru Disney (preferred parade viewing, preferred seating at Aladdin and other shows, VMK cards).

I booked my December trip a few weeks ago through Costco - I later found out that booking online through Disney was cheaper by about $400 for some reason. I called Costco, they said that I should have the best price offered and called Disney. Disney asked me to fax over all the documents for their review...still haven't heard back from them. Hopefully I'll get the discount.

You're kidding!!!! (Why do I always manage to find the wrong info?)
Ill try again today. I finally "told" my husband, so now he is helping with the planning. whew! What a relief!!!!! We are going to head to Sea World and San Diego Zoo also while we are there. Our dates will be 9/30-10/7... not sure if we'll stay in a a hotel near DL the whole time, or stay near the Zoo one night or what. TODAY I have commited to figuring this out... mostly. :goodvibes Thank You All!

I don't know how comfortable you are using Price Line, but I have come to love it. It's up to 50% cheaper than hotels hotwire expedia , all those places. My girlfriend, her sister, and her sister's boyfriend booked two rooms this year in January. We paid $42 a night at a three star hotel for a room with a King bed, and a room with TWO queens!

There are limitations; you can only pick the area, not the specific hotel. Then again, you choose your star level for hotels, and Priceline does not overrate hotels as badly as some of the other companies. Anyways, we ended up at a hotel less than 1/2 a mile from Disneyland (that had a free shuttle!), and couldn't have been happier or more pleased with the price!

We did that last year at spring break and it was so fun! First we went to San Diego and did the zoo and seaworld. We stayed a couple of nights and then headed up to DL. How old are your kids? Are you flying or driving? I could give you some tips if I had more info? Did you check out the stay 4 nights get the 4th night free deal?

We'll be at DLR Oct 2-8. We had a hard time getting a room on site. Turns out we'll be there during "gay-fest" at Disney. I wonder if that's why that weekend will be so busy.
I compared prices from AAA, disney.com and expedia. We went with the expedia package, but I'm having to make transporation arrangements and I'm not getting some of the previously mentioned perks.
