My DD is trying to book a Villa for the first week in Oct. She trades thru RCI. (Is buying points, I think, I am not very time share savvy;) )
She called yesterday to see if there was a 2 bdrm at BCV, it wasn't avail. and they told her that there was SSR and WL. She asked me, and I told her to make the choice that she prefered (we are going together), and I would be happy at any! She called back today, and, well I guess they said the inventory changes every 7 sec. :goodvibes :confused3 , so they said they had a 1 bdrm at OKW, and one at SSR. She hung up, called me again- "what should I do, Mom?" We don't want to be in two different resorts, or even too far apart, and would prefer a 2 bdrm, but would take 2-1 bdrms near each other. Or a 1bdrm, and a studio.
Now I know that RCI is new to the DVC resorts, but does anyone know what our chances are, if she calls every day, to get a 2 bdrm, or even to get BCV?
Will it make a difference when we hit the 7 month mark?
She wasn't comfortable transfering her points, and having them do a constant search, but I think she may have to.
Any ideas-suggestions or pixie dust appreciated!

The 7-month window has no bearing. Personally, I think she'd be better off opening the Ongoing Search with her 2BR criteria.

Thanks for the input. I can always count on this board for feedback!

If she has RCI points, she can't do an ongoing search for DVC, it's first come first served. If she has RCI weeks, she can do an ongoing search. Inventory does change and she is not going to be able to call you then call them back and get that unit in most cases unless she has them put the unit on hold, which she can do. Currently there are AKV units (but no 2 BR) for 2 and 3 Oct. There are 1 and 2 BR units for the very end of Oct at BCV and VWL for RCI points. For RCI weeks there is a lot more inventory but you can't access that inventory as an RCI points owner unless you also own RCI weeks separately. Regardless she needs to do this online instead of or in addition to calling. You'll have a much better chance of seeing new units pop up online.

Thank you - I will pass this on to her. I may get her info, since I have more time to check online than her. I'm not sure about the points, I thought she said she was renting /buying points. She was told she would have to transfer the points over to RCI, (she trades through Shell Vacations), then she could do the ongoing search. 1 bdrm unit was $700-800 a wk, I guess to buy the points she needs?

Shell points and RCI points are different. I am not well versed on how the shell points converts over to RCI points. Still, the info on reserving DVC using RCI points is accurate. Hopefully she can search online using her account but if she's in the process of buying, that might be more difficult. Good luck and let us know what you find out.

It sounds more like she is trying to do an "vacation" via RCI with out a trade if it is 7-800$.
RCI is offering an extra vacation special for DVC right now... there were 2brd units available when I searched a few days ago...

If that is what she is doing - waiting will not help.. once they are gone - they are gone..

You could be right, She is working, and I will talk to her soon. I did see the "vacation" offer on RCIs site, that you're refering to. Not sure why they would tell her to do a search, but I'll let you know how we fare!

Well my DD finally booked! We currently have a 1bdrm at SSR and a 1 bdrm at OKW. She can check back before close of buisness tommorow to see if there are 2 rooms at the same resort, or a 2 bdrm.
This was points from her Shell Vacations that she transfered to RCI to book. I guess after the first day, if we find something and change, there is a charge.

I'm dissapointed that we will not be near each other, but what can we do? There was no choice at this point. We'll have to make the best of it.
At least we are in for sure!

This all started when she bought into Diamond International in Jan, and was told she could book Disney through them. She told me, I looked on here, and found out otherwise! And, in fact, now she could use RCI anyways! I would have been very upset that they misrepresented the deal, but she is dealing with it.
