We will be booking our first cruise with DCL tomorrow. We will be using our points for me and DH, then paying cash for our 2 DS'S. Is there anything we should know before doing this? I know about the $95 fee, but is something I'm missing? My questions are: is there parking at the dock- we will driving down. after getting back to port, we will then drive to WDW to stay for 3 nights at Jambo- can we book this at the same time of the cruise or do we have to wait until the 11 month window (AKV is our home resort).
Mods-move this thread if it is the wrong area- not sure where to post it.
Thanks!

Yes there is parking at the port. I believe it is $15.00 a day. You will have to wait for the normal booking windows to book a DVC room. I would make you aware of the consequences if you have to cancel your cruise. Those points would only be usable for booking from the Disney or Concierge Collections. We were booked for a cruise next March and had to cancel. We will be spending our next Spring Break at the Fort Wilderness Camp ground in a Cabin. The other thing that you should be aware of is the gratuities that are expected from the ship's crew. We were on a 3 night cruise and the expected tips were around $250.00. Have fun.

We booked the Dream with points. ( yes I know not the best use but I wanted to go and did not want the hassle) anyway. You probably already know but I will point out that whoever you are booking with cash you will have to pay for up front along with the fee. Please make sure that your dates are solid because I have read many horror stories about trying to change dates with cruises booked with points.:flower3:

As pnyltwk already point out, parking at Port Canaveral is $15 per day. The total fee for the time the vehicle will be parked is due on entry. They accept cash, Visa, Mastercard and Traveler's Checks issued in U.S. dollars.

Once the cruise is booked with points, if you make any changes to the date or number (or names) of passengers, you will have to pay another $95 transaction fee.

I have 3 cabins booked on the Dream for a 5 day cruise for next June. I reserved them with cash deposits initially and will convert them to points before the balance is due. That way I will not get stuck paying any additional fees if I have to make any changes , I spoke with member services about this and was told that many people have done this. It does tie up the deposit money but we are paying for a couple with cash anyway and will just use that money. Good luck,
