Booking cruise on points question

We have cruised twice, but this will be our first time cruising on points. When we book through MS, will we know our cabin number right away, or do they they need to check in to it and get back with us? Can we request a specific location? Thanks!

You can request a specific location, but due to the fact that we can only book 11 months out, the chances of getting cabins like the secret porthole cabins are greatly reduced.

MS will keep you on hold while they check cabin availibility and then you will get a cabin number.

I was able to book (on points) a secret porthole room in January for this coming November. I was very surprised it was available. The MS agent told me I could basically forget about that room being available as it's very popular. I had to insist that he check it. He was more surprised that I was that it was available!
