My ADR reservation window will be opening up soon and I am planning to make reservations at CRT for 6 people (4A 2C). On my hotel package reservation we have 2 adults and 2 children with the dining plan and we would like to use the dining plan credits to pay for this meal. I will also be including my sister and her boyfriend in the ADR however they have not yet made hotel reservations.

Will I be able to book this using dining credits or will I be required to pre-pay since the ADR will be for more people than we have on the dining plan?

Did you get a answer to this? Planning on trying to do the same. Thanks

You can't book a prepaid meal using dining credits. You have to prepay for everyone on your reservation using your credit card and whatever is covered by credits at your actual meal will be refunded a few days after your reservation.

Actually this is not true. You can book a prepaid meal with dining credits. We do it all the time. Did it for both CRT and Hoop Dee Doo last year. MDE will recognize that you are on the dining plan and it gives you two choices - pay the full amount on credit card or hold with dining plan credits. In this case for the OP, they might have to pay for it all on the card because some are on the dining plan and some aren't and then get refunded for their credits when there. But you can definitely book meals using DDP credits.

To the OP - I am pretty sure you all would have to have the DDP when booking online. I would call for this one, just to be sure. They can probably do it over the phone but I am not positive. I wouldn't book online, because MDE will not give you the option of booking with dining credits because you all aren't in the system as having the DDP. Good luck!

That's really strange. I don't disbelieve you, but we have used the dining plan numerous times and have never been given the option of "holding" using the credits for prepaid meals or shows. I'm not sure where the discrepancy lies. We even called the dining line once to ask if we could do this and were told no.

Hmm I'm not sure when you last tried do it, but maybe it was something they used to not be able to do. They definitely allow it now, which is great when booking online and having the DDP. We had no problem booking CRT and HDDR last year, and never prepaid for the whole thing.. they held the bookings with our dining credits because the system could see that we were all on the dining plan. If you don't have the dining plan, then you won't even get both options and you have to pay for with your card. If you add the dining plan later, then like you said, you can use the credits when you are there and get refunded.

We last tried to do it this past December. Who knows how the Disney elves determine who is worthy or not ;)?

OP- it's clear that people are getting different results from the same situation, which is par for the course with Disney. My best advice at this point is to try to book and see if the system allows you to use your credits, otherwise you will have to prepay. Either way, a simple task.

That is so weird! We did it for our trip this past November. And the option came up again when making ADR's for our September trip 2 weeks ago, since we booked HDDR.

I just made a ADR for CRT, and it is holding it for us with DDP credits, rather than charging our credit card. It gave me the option as I was making the reservation, if I wanted to use DDP credits or charge the credit card. And now when I check the reservation it says:

Reservation Guarantee
Your reservation will be guaranteed by using your Disney Dining Plan Entitlements. Your VISA ending in XXXX will not be charged, unless your party fails to show up for the reservation.

So another anecdote of reserving CRT with DDP credits. :)

You can book prepaid meals using dining credits. We do it all the time. They still require a credit card in case of a no-show, but you can use your dining credits to guarantee your reservation.

I was wondering the same thing, as we want to use our daughters credits to pay for another child (which i believe is possible now theyve changed how you can use your credits- on people not on your booking). Would this be possible? Or would we need to pay on card then, get it refunded and sorted once out there?
sorry to hijack :)

For our trip last year in November, I did our ADR's right at the 180+10 mark. We have 4 in our family but I was booking for our whole party of 9. I was able to book CRT and hold with dining credits with no problem.

Did you book online or call to do this? Thanks
