Booking Connecting Studios at PVB?

First of all, I have about zero interest in staying at the Poly, but I thought of a scenario and I wonder how it would be handled.

We are a family of 4 who prefer 1BR's so the kids have their own sleeping space. If we were to book 2 studios at the Poly, would we have to book them as 2 reservations? Would we have to put one adult and one child on each? How would the rooms be keyed?

And the most important question...what about the dining plans? Could we put it on one room and not the other? This would be interesting....so I will stir the pot and start a debate:stir:...

From the Disney Dining Plan brochure...

"You may not redeem meals or snacks for any Guests who are not on
your Disney Dining Plan."

OK, I get this...no giving your meal credits to someone else...but...it does not say that you cannot share a meal with someone not on the dining plan. What if we booked 2 connecting studios and put DH and DD12 on the Deluxe Dining Plan in one room and myself and DD10 in the other room, without dining? When we go to eat a TS meal, we'd get 2 appetizers, 2 entrees, 2 desserts and 2 beverages. Is it required that DD10 and I order additional food? I can honestly say that at 50's PTC, a salad and onion rings for appetizers, (2) sampler plates for entrees and (2) brownie sundaes for desserts would stuff the 4 of us to the gills. Obviously, this would not work at all TS places and we would have to order additional appetizers or entrees, but it is the concept that has me intrigued.

It would seem that connecting studios would need to be a guaranteed booking category in these situations. If a family of 6 wanted two connecting studios, and the resort is "all" studios (for those of us who aren't multi-millionaires:lmao:), I'd hope that they could be assured of staying together.

Like I said, I have no desire to stay at the Poly (or any monorail resort, for that matter) so my questions are more to open up a discussion than to get actual answers:flower3:.

I haven't read anything about how they are actually booked, I guess we will find out on Feb 12.

My guess is if you can book them under one reservation #, you will not be able to split the dining plan. So the big question is how the reservation system will handle it. One reservation or two.

What you describe is the reason why they require everyone in the room to buy it for every night of the reservation.

Yup, and that's why I'm wondering and waiting to see how they will handle this. It might make the DxDDP something to consider. If 2 rooms=2 reservations, then it will also mean the ability to split up the dining plan.

In the promo material they say you will be able to get connectring studios. They have not begun taking reservations but I am guessing when they do there will be a room booking category for connecting studios. This is nothing new or srange or even different from past history because they have long had connecting studios and 1BRs as a separate 2BR booking category so I assume they will easily figure it out to do the same for connecting studios. I have no idea whether they have even thought far enough ahead to cover the dining plan but I am also guessing there that you will probably have to get it for everyone in both rooms to get it at all because connecting studio booking will be considered the same as a 2BR lock-off booking, a sinle reservation with all on the dining plan.

I would think they would have to make it a booking category to keep the inventory straight. Otherwise when they are full the 2 empty rooms may not be together.

A connected category is the same as a 2 bedroom. That would kill the inventory flexibility.

Should be interesting.

Nothing is stopping you from doing exactly what your propose with the dining plans if you get two studios for your family at BCV, BWV, etc. That would be two separate reservation numbers, so you could get one studio with the dining plan and one without.

We have actually considered doing what you propose, but decided not to because we hate studios :) It would be very easy to put 2 people on the deluxe dining plan and 2 people with no dining plan.

When you go to a TS restaurant, you all order entrees and split the apps and deserts amongst the table. The most expensive entrees would be placed on the dining plan, and you pay OOP for the people who eat chicken! I think it is an excellent plan. Our family of 4 has paid for the deluxe dining plan a few times and the amount of food wasted is astronomical. We just aren't big eaters.

Using this plan, you could save money and not have so much food waste.

I just read (somewhere here...) that connecting studios will NOT be a guarantee, just a request:sad1:. If that's the case, this whole PVB thing is shaping up to be quite a debacle. Exhorbitant bungalow costs...no 1-2BR villas...no guaranteed connecting studios...only ONE building with a laundry room...nothing about it even remotely appeals to me. I will just sit back and watch with interest to see how this all unfolds:coffee:.

That's crazy! We are/were going to buy at the Poly. If this is true, it may be the straw that broke the camel's back....

If connecting studios isn't a guarantee then poly is just one hot mess.

Very very few people can afford the bungalows so poly is pretty much just a studio dvc resort. Such a waste.
