Booking at 7 or 11 months

We are new to DVC. We own at BLT but for our next trip (June 2012) we'd like to stay at kidani village. Will we have a problem getting a savannah room at 7mo? Should I book at BLT at 11mo & then see if I can switch? Because if we can't get a savannah view we want to stay at BLT? Not sure what to do?? Need some advice ??

You should be fine to stay at Kidani booking at 7 months, but why not be safe and make a reservation at your Home Resort so you'll have something in case it would not be available. There is no cost to make the reservation and later cancel it to reserve at Kidani.

I agree. Just be sure to call first thing the day your 7 month mark opens up and you should be okay to switch over.

I changed my feb 2012 reservation to Kidani village today with no problem. Made my original reservation at the 11 month mark at my home resort (BLT) call this morning which was the first day of the 7 month mark and switched to AKL. Got a 1 bed savanna villa, they also has 2 bed savanna villa's available. This will be my first trip as a dvc member so I am super excited!!!!

Be careful, though, if you are having to borrow points to make the reservation and/or the 7 month mark is after your banking deadline -- BLT takes more points than Kidani, so you'll have some left over if you successfully switch.

Not always. We have a standard view 1 BR at BLT booked for December, and when we considered changing to a savanna view 1 BR at Kidani, it was 6 more points for our dates.

Lots of people seem to think BLT is automatically more points, but not always; especially if standard view is booked.
