Hi!
I'm sure this has been asked a dozen times before, but I can't seem to find an answer.

If we booked our resort through a site like Orbitz or Expedia, and IF free dining becomes available during our stay, would we be eligible?

I'm not sure where the line is drawn when it comes to booking a discounted room or not. :confused3

You'd have to rebook a package with Disney directly.

Even if you booked a 'room only' reservation with Disney, you'd still have to cancel it and book a 'package' with Disney (package includes tickets - usually a minimum of 2 day ticket per person on the reservation (for free dining; 1 day minimum if paying for dining)). Deposits for room only reservations (even if made directly with Disney) cannot be applied to a package.

You cannot book a package with dining (not even paid dining) through Orbitz, Expedia, etc. You can only book dining through Disney or certain authorized travel agents (not sure who).

To get free dining you must pay "rack" rate (full price) for the room. You cannot have a room discount and free dining. See rack rates at mousesavers dot com.

Thank you, Amanda.
So, to be able to take advantage of "potential" free dining, I'd also need tickets? This would not work for annual passholders then, correct?

No! You could get the minimum tickets to get the FD (last year it was 2 day base) and use those to renew your AP later. Your investing in your future tickets, so your not wasting the money.

You might check out the "Tables in Wonderland" card, which you can buy if you are an AP holder. Gives you up to 20% off at lots of restaurants (not all, some black out dates, etc...).

(I've never bought it myself - will for next trip - so probably better to check its website or google disboards for prior posts than read an explanation I attempt. tablesinwonderland.com. For me, the Orbitz room only discount I scored last month (for June) plus TIW card will handily beat out dining plan (I was going to buy APs anyway).) Of course, if you can get free dining, different math all together!

HTH!

Haha, Amanda, I never was that great at math! :rotfl:

We have been thinking about TIW as well. I think we'll just watch resort prices and then use that. Disney dining will be the better route for all of our guests. (We're getting married there:love:)
