Booking AirTran With Canadain Credit Card

I tried to book flights online with Air Tran last night.
Both my Mastercard and Amex cards were rejected.
I called their customer service folk and they told me that sometimes Canadian based cards don't work
I asked him why and he didn't know. I told him I booked SWA last week using the same card with no problem.
Anyone ever had this problem ?

mmmm... strange... twice now have i booked my flights with Airtran and always used my CIBC Visa Credit card with no Problem.
I would try again today, mybe they were just having some issues with their system.

Depending on what your usual spending pattern is with your credit card the problem may be with your credit card issuer. YOu may want to call mastercard and make sure they didn't refuse the transaction because it was deemed unusual. The credit card companies monitor your usage and if a transaction isn't something you've done in the past they may refuse the transaction believing it is fraudulent. It can't hurt to call and ask.

I agree with the poster above. My DVC transaction (Down payment) was declined and I had to call and identify myself before they would approve it.

I had problems booking online with Air tran too - when I called their customer service they fixed it up right away - I was told it was something to do with the way we are putting in our address or some information and their system is tempermantal for Canadians!

We had a problem with our Amex card this past May when trying to book with AirTran. The issue was our address. We weren't entering it exactly as it was printed on our bill. We had to dig a bill out and re-enter the info. Turns out we were putting our apartment number in the wrong sequence. Everything worked out fine once we entered the address correctly. Now our receipt/ticket from AirTran shows our card being declined the first time and accepted the second time. Good luck!

This is the second time I have had that problem and I just tried to book 2 days ago. HAd to call Customer Service - they were able to enter it - not sure what the problem is. Just make sure they don't charge you the extra 5 or 10$ it 'normally' costs to book over the phone. This happened to me the first time, but not this last time and I had believed the original guy who told me there was nothing he could do about the charge - well goes to show he was wrong as the lady this trip was able to enter it as the internet price. Just a word to the wise.....

PS - I did have my bill in from of me and was entering exactly as was on the bill so not sure what the issue was?

I also had the same problem last Thursday I tried with two different cards and it came up "declined" I called the bank and they said everything was ok. Called Air Trans, the woman said it was our postal code. She typed in "999999" in the postal code box and it worked............... Go Figure

Thanks for the tip to use 99999 for the zip code. I had the same problem and my credit card company told me that Air Tran does not accept Canadian MC or Amex, but I was able to book flights today with my MC.
