My travel party is driving me CRAZY!!! We leave in 38 days and we still don't have airline tickets. I have been checking fares on a daily basis and reporting the fares to them. Each time I tell them the fares they just say "no, that's too high." I have also been watching the fares slowly increase as we get closer to our date. The flight I originally wanted to book for $160 is now $230. It is so frustrating to watch the fares keep going up and have my travel partners refuse to book. My question is: should I just book for myself and let them deal with their own airfare? The problem is that where we live there are 4 airports that we can fly out of all of which are an hour or less away. So if I book at one airport and then they book at another airport later I will end up driving by myself and therefore paying for gas and parking on my own, and money is a little tight right now. I really just don't know what to do!

At this point, ticket prices will only go up more. As you get closer to the date of departure, ticket prices will continue to rise. BUY NOW!

um...airtran is running a sale from our city that ends today. In other words I have 45 more minutes to book. I don't know what to do!

You need to get in with your travel mates and figure this out. Just over a month to go and you are taking a huge gamble to save a couple of bucks (I mean they are). The question is, are they willing to drive?

Could prices go down, sure. The reality of it, however, is that the prices will just go up. Look at what business travelers pay on a regular basis for last minute airfare...

Your situation would drive me nuts. I know what I will pay and grab it the first chance I can....

Best of luck.

Well, I'll let them know first thing in the morning, but...I JUST BOOKED!!!! I got non-stop flights both ways, I arrive in Orlando at 10 am and my flight out isn't until 8pm! That is almost like adding 2 days to my trip. I will tell them my airline information so they can choose to book tomorrow if they want to, or they can keep waiting and pay higher prices. I was literally at the point where I was crying because I was so worked up about this, it is just the best feeling in the world to have it all over with. I am going to sleep good tonight! I am SOOOO happy! Now I am going to go add my flight information to my reservation so I can arrange for Magical Express. :cool1:

Stitchfan1404 ~ Good for you for booking! I am leaving in 38 days also and I bought my tickets months ago. I would have been a nervous wreck by now if my tickets weren't booked. The same tickets I got our family months ago at $128 are now selling for $744! I also am traveling with my friend and her DD's and we bought our airfare when we saw that price even though she had to wait. She wanted the same flight and paid $400+ for it a couple of months later. :scared1: Have a great trip. Maybe we'll see you there! :earsboy:

Did you end up booking with Air Tran? We used them for the first time ever last week and honestly they were the two best flights I've ever had. We left Phila. exactly on time (7:00 am) and arrived in Orlando a few minutes early (just about 9:15). The flight home actually took off a bit early (8:20 pm) and arrived in Philadelphia about 20 minutes early (10:30). The flight attendants were AWESOME. And the in flight (free) XM radio was perfect. They even had Coke Zero, which I love. :cool1: I can't wait to use them again.

Yep, I ended up going with Airtran. I flew them for my January trip for the first time and had a wonderful experience. Both of my flights took off right on time, and yes, the radio was great. Also, I just couldn't find a better deal for non-stop flights which is very important to me, and the flight times were great. I am just really happy I made this decision. I called my travel companions this morning and let them know I did it and they said they will think about booking the same flight, but they are still going to spend a few more days looking for something lower. Oh brother... :confused3
