Booking a trip during Prez week in Feb... crazy to think I'll get discounted rate???

Going to Disney 2/19-2/26...

I received two quotes from smallworld and dreamsunlimited - which were exactly the same price as at disney.com - $1457 for 7 days at a moderate (room only)...

Am I crazy to think I might be able to get any kind of great rate for a moderate at this time? Peak season begins 2/16...

If not, I'll just go ahead and book right now...

We usually go in February and we have always had some kind of discount. Now we dont' usually go during Pres week, but usually the week right before. I don't remember that week being excluded though. The main thing is that it is crowded so I would book just to ensure your choice of resort. If something comes out it will usually be before the 45 day mark for your final payment (if you are doing a package). If you are doing just room, by all means book now because you can change or cancel that easily before you arrive. I was told it is easier to change your reservations UP instead of down. Not sure if this is true, but you might just want to book your basic plan that you would be happy with (meaning resort) and then if you get a great deal you can upgrade. If you have an exsisting package and a discount code promotion comes out that you are qualified for,you will be able to apply to your reservation as long as you haven't fully paid. At least I think this is the case, someone else please correct me if I am wrong.

One note is the VISA cardholders seem to get the jump on the discount codes, so since you are going at a busy time, if you don't already have one, you may want to get a Disney Visa. There is one out there that will give you bonus bucks. We got $50 right away. Just make sure you look for it so you don't get the one with just 25 spending at the Disney store. (Unless that is what you want) Any way you will have plenty of time to build up spending money on that card!
