Booking a Room through Travelocity

We already have a room booked at POP over New Years. We would like to add one more night to the beginning of our stay. Disney does not have that room available. Travelocity has all three nights available. Should I cancel my reservation through Disney (I have already paid for it) and book all three nights on Travelocity? Would Disney just credit the money paid for the room back onto my credit card?

How does Travelocity work? Would I get a disney confirmation in the mail?
Any other information I should know about Travelocity would be extremely helpful. Thank you so much!

bumping, I hope someone will be able to answer your questions.

Good Luck

I would call WDWTC and ask them first. They would be able to tell you first hand. Many times out of curiousity I have looked at rooms on expedia, travelocity, orbitz to check prices on different hotel destinations in which we travel. I know for a fact that the room and dates we have booked are sold out BUT will show as available on these websites. So be careful...you may just be cancelling your entire vacation.

The resorts I check on are not always mega resorts with hundreds of rooms, but smaller boutique resorts with 30 rooms or less....so I know when they are sold out but the travel websites will show available.

I have tried this thru Travelocity as well....it says the rooms are available..and when you get to the end to reserve the room...it will say they are NOT available....I did it sooo many times!! So I called Travelocity and they said that often times it will seem as if the rooms are available when in fact they are not.

And if you read the fine print...it will say that Travelocity will not charge your credit card (like they do for all other hotels)...and that's because Disney will charge it...it all goes thru Disney...it's just like Disney's policies for cancellations, too.

So, your best bet is to just keep your reservation and save the headaches!! I, too, thought I was gonna get a reservation that Disney couldn't give me.

Hope that helps!

I have never had a problem booking hotel rooms thru Travelocity but have not booked Disney ones (we are DVC members). I did talk to Disney CRO once when they showed nothing available at Disney and Travelocity DID show options for staying on-property. What I was told is consistent with other providers in the travel industry and that is that Disney sometimes releases inventory to folks like Travelocity and Expedia (esp. during relatively slow booking times) so it is no longer in the Disney system. Not sure if that is true but I really do think Travelocity will stand behind their reservations so would be surprised if you would be left "holding the bag" with a Disney room booked thru Travelocity.
