Booking a room in WDW for cash

I am reading through our Membership documents which arrived yesterday . As I've been reading this board, it seems to me that people have referred to cash discounts at WDW resorts that are available to members. Some people pay cash on weekends, rather than use points. However, I can't find room discounts listed. I see the discounts on certain passes, and resort attractions, but nothing about cash discounts for rooms.

I know that AP holders get discounts on rooms, and perhaps that is what the threads were referring to.

Can someone set me straight? We have MB and don't have points available at this time. We are staying at the S&D in late October, and I'm wondering if we could get a better rate.

When available, DVC members can get a 25% discount on DVC rooms only. These rooms do come from member inventory and it is not always available. Members may reserve cash rooms at DVC resorts(with and without the discount) thru MS, but we cannot reserve cash rooms at non-DVC resorts.

Some of the comments regarding discounted cash stays do involve other discounts- like AP discounts.
