Booking a room for a family member (who is NOT DVC)

we are staying at aulani for a couple of nights in july. i wanted to change my ressie to be a 2-bedroom vila instead of our already booked 1-bedroom villa so that by BIL, SIL, and DN can stay with us. unfortunately, there are NO available 2-bedroom villas.

so i just booked a 1-bedroom villa for them for only 1-night (that coincided with our stay). anyways, I wanted to be sure they get the free parking benefit as well. on their ressie, it's my SIL as the main person (i checked the box that said "this person is not a DVC member"), my BIL is the other adult (same box checked), and then my niece as the child guest.

question...will they be able to have 1 night free parking during this stay since i booked it for them???

thank you, bill. that's my understanding as well, but wanted to confirm so that if it's not covered, i can let my SIL know to expect a parking charge. we are very new DVC'ers and this is the first time we made a ressie for someone else without out names on the actual reservation.

I agree with disneynutz. If you use DVC points to pay for a reservation, then you get the benefit of Free Parking, and this applies whether it is a DVC room or a 'Disney Collection' hotel room, or a room you are paying for (with points) for someone else.

DVC points require Membership Fees for each point. The Membership Fees pay for maintenance, including parking lot maintenance, and thus, the Free Parking.

I can confirm parking is free. I let some friends use some points last month for three night stay. They went to pay for parking when they left and were told there wasn't a charge because they were booked using points.

The big thing to keep in mind is they get all room benefits (free laundry, included parking) but no DVC member benefits (discounts, TOTW, etc.).

One benefit for any Aulani stay thru DVC is the exclusive wristband distribution counter first thing in the morning! I never knew that & it's a great perk because lines for pool wristbands are LONG in the morning. It's at the towel counter closest to the infinity pool for the first hour. Verify the time when you get there, just in case.

I booked 3 rooms using our points for 3 different families and they all got free parking.
