Booking a 2 bdrm and a studio at HH

I will be trying to book a 2 bdrm and a studio later this week at the 7 month window for a trip to HH with 2 other couples. We've decided that room format will work best for us in order to give each couple a private bath and then I plan to request that the rooms be in close proximity to each other so the kitchen/washer/dryer will be easily accessible to the couple in the studio. It's been a long time since I booked two separate accommodations for the same trip .... before online booking came into being. I'm thinking I will need to book two separate reservations online when the window opens at 8:00 a.m. and then call MA to link them and make any request? Is that correct?

You may run into a problem with proximity. The main lodge is the only building with both 2BR and studios. The 2BR's are all lock offs and many are HA. The other studios are part of 2BR lock offs that are located on the bottom floor of the 5 buildings with GV's. So, you will not be able to get a dedicated 2BR and a studio that are in the same building. The good news is that the resort is very compact and everything is easily accessible.

So, there are 2BR lock-offs in other buildings, just not dedicated, besides the main lodge? Because we don't have a problem with the 2 BR being a lock-off, so it would be ok if we could get a 2 BR lock-off and then a separate studio in the same building...we sort of would like same building if possible since in the morning we will all be eating breakfast together in the kitchen/dining area of 2 BR and it would be so easy for the folks in the studio to stay in robes/pjs and just scoot over/up or down within the same building. We also thought about the possibility of a grand villa, but, doubtful we would get it at the 7 month window since there are so few, not to mention it's 60 points more for our timeframe and we don't need ALL that space.

There are 5 buildings (besides the main one) that have 2BR lock offs. Those buildings have a Grand Villa on the top two floors and a 2BR lock off on the main floor. Those are the only units in those buildings so there is no way to get a studio and a 2BR lock off in ANY building, besides the main lodge. The other buildings are all dedicated 2BR units. IIRC, there are 16 lock-off 2BRs in the main lodge. Since this is the only building with elevators, many of those are HA units. Then, there are 5 buildings that each have a 2BR lock-off underneath the GV. This means there is a total of only 21 possible studios and 21 1BR's. In comparison, there are 76 dedicated 2BR's so you can only request a lock-off, but typically, they are booked as individual studios and 1BR's.
