Booking 2 rooms -- are they considered separate ressies for Dining Plan?

I'll be booking 2 rooms on one of our vacation nights (in-laws in the other room). If I buy the DDP, do I have to get it for EVERYONE on the reservation in both rooms, or only ours?

If they are treated separately I was thinking that I could get my in-laws the DDP (who will likely do Quick Service meals or inexpensive TS) and then get us the Deluxe plan, as we want to do mainly TS meals. Would this work?

If you are booking 2 rooms then you will get 2 confirmation numbers. So to answer your question, yes.......you can book DDP for the inlaws and the deluxe for you because technically they are two sepertate reservations and will be treated as such......but everyone in the room will have the same plan.
