How much more does it normally cost if you book a room for 1 person?

We were thinking about inviting my MoM along on our 7 night cruise. We have 3 people so I guess if we need to we can unbook our son with us and rebook him as a 2nd quests with her.....

Anyone have advice on this?????

If only one person is booked in a cabin, you will be charged for 75% of the second (non-existing) person because rates are based on double occupancy.

Example:
If a cabin cost $2000.00 for two people, then it will cost $1750.00 for one person.

That will rais the price of your son's fare considerably. A single person is 1.5 or 1.75 fare

Before I did that I would compare the two prices. Leaving your son with you and your mom alone and then putting him with her.

i have that same question too...now that it's been answered, i need your opinions..

my sister (alone) wants to join me, hubby, son & daughter. five people will be too many for one room.

should i give her one of my children for the reservation? would that be better in pricing? or would that make my price go up?

so in essence, one stateroom will have 2 adults & 1 kid and the other 1 adult & 1 kid.

what are your thoughts?

It will be cheaper to book one of your children in her room.


If you're not sure, use the DCL web site to check prices. Get a quote for 1 person, two adults (a child booked as the 2nd person pays the adult rate), two adults with one child, and two adults with two children. You should find that two adults + two adults with one child < one adult + two adults with two children.

BTW, not knowing the age of your children, I will recomend that you book the oldest child as the 2nd adult in the cabin with your mother. The rate for your mother's cabin is going to be the same if the 2nd person is an infant, teenager, or an adult. But the rate for a 3rd person is going to depend upon their age. I KNOW there is a significant rate difference between an infant (less than 3 years old) verses a child. I don't know if there is a difference between child v. teenager v. adult, so this may or may not affect you based on how the rates are broken down and the exact age of your children at the time the ship sails.
