Booked the Villas at the Grand Californian today for May

I was on the computer right at 8:00 am this morning as my 7 month window opened today.
I was able to book a studio, which makes me happy, I was willing to book a 1 bedroom if no studio was available.
Now I will be in Disneyland May 2nd for 5 nights before I head off to China to visit my daughter who will be teaching in Beijing for Disney English.
It been quite a few years since my first visit to Disneyland, I am excited to see all the new attractions.

It is such a beautiful building and its proximity to DL is so great. We stayed in May 2011!

Congratulations! I went that week in 2011, weather and crowds were good. I love VGC! I think the rooms are nicer than any WDW DVC (at least until VGF opens).

I'm hoping for nice weather, I chose the first week of May because I'm hoping it won't be too crowded, and then I will be in China for Mother's Day.
When I stayed in Disneyland in 2009 I stayed at the Disneyland Hotel which I loved. I went over to check out the Grand Californian was thought it was beautiful. I can not wait to stay there.

FYI, Make sure you do Cars land with your Extra Magic Hour and if you don't, make sure you are in line for the Cars ride by 30 min before opening for fastpasses or you won't be riding it till like 7 PM

You will love staying at VGC! We were there middle of January, 2013...weather was absolutely fantastic that week and we had a great 4th floor park view 1 bdrm...fantastic park views (we were right above/behind the corn dog stand). Absolutely agree with other poster about doing Carsland during Extra Magic Hour....otherwise, you'll wait in a very long line.

Great! We were able to book 3 nights at VGC for February at our 7 month window. We are following it by 10 nights in Aulani. We have never been to Disneyland and are definitely looking forward to seeing the parks and the beautiful Grand Californian.

Thank you for the advice. Being the obsessive planner that I am I've already starting to look at the flights, transportation to the hotel etc. I am going to keep a list of suggestions so that I can make the most of my trip.

Great! We were able to book 3 nights at VGC for February at our 7 month window. We are following it by 10 nights in Aulani. We have never been to Disneyland and are definitely looking forward to seeing the parks and the beautiful Grand Californian.

When I started planning on this trip last year, I was originally planning on staying in California and then go to Aulani too. But then my daughter got the opportunity to teach in China and I decided that would be the trip of a lifetime. I definitely want to go to Aulani though, maybe in a year or two.

I booked VGC at 7 mos. in May too! Booked 5/5-5/8,2014. I got the last studio!! Yeah for us!
