I just got off the phone with MS with some surprising good news. We were able to book a standard view 1BR at BWV for 4/25-4/28 with no waitlist! I booked a 1BR at OKW for those same dates a couple of months ago for a short trip with my wife and my mom. At that time, I didn't even bother to ask about standard view at BWV because I thought there would be no way I could get it (and I didn't want to spend the 20 something extra points for BCV and/or VWL). In fact, I didn't even think about it. Well, today I was bored and decided to just call and give it a shot. I even told MS that I was sure there wouldn't be any availability, but please check anyway. Lo and behold, she came back and said "no problem, we can do that for you."
This is pretty exciting for me because my mom has never been to Disney and I think the Boardwalk area will give her a nice first experience. I love OKW too, but this will be a "see as much as we can in 4 days" trip and I think the Boardwalk area will give us a more convenient location as well as a little more wow factor.
Anyway, I just thought I'd share the success story, and also say that if anyone's looking for standard view at BWV on those dates there may be some left.
