My extended family and I have decided to go to WDW next summer. It's me, my DH, DD(4), DS(2), my brother and SIL, my mom and dad.
Originally we were going to stay onsite. Then we started looking at prices. To stay onsite for a week, we were looking at between $5400 (All star Movies) and $14,316 (contemporary tower). Realistically, if we were going to stay on site, it was going to be at something like POFQ or really do it at the contemporary. So, we decided to look off site.
The total now for our trip (for all 8 of us) is $4800 for 10 days! Including car rental (assumed price for now), including parking, at a 5BR pool home in Indian Creek. Everyone now has their own bedroom, and with little kids, that's important. And we get to go for 3 more days because it's so much less expensive!
So grateful to this board for all the guidance along the way. We stayed offsite earlier this year at Windsor Hills and just can't justify staying onsite for the cost, especially with a group this big.
Special thanks to torinsmom who led us to our eventual rental and sent me a review of it just yesterday while she was on her trip!

I was actually too comfortable to head back to the parks this evening. Just sitting here on the sofa enjoying the cable and the wireless internet. You just can't beat the price or the location. And with those little ones, you will appreciate the pool gate and alarm as well. Our big boys, 16,15 and 12, did not need it, LOL. They have been in the pool every afternoon. I wish I had taken pictures before we got comfortable, because they don't have enough to do it justice on their website, IMO. And when I called to ask about the hot tub heat, I got a call back within 30 minutes, so the management is good as well.
