Well we pushed the button the other day, we were planning another Florida but driving around and seeing some of the sights, down to the Keys and finishing up in Orlando. So, idly I checked some other flight prices and caught a deal with Air new Zealand to LA that wasn't a kick in the pants off the Orlando flights we were looking at. Now its a quick couple of days in LA with a visit to Disney there followed by California Roadtrip!:cool1:

:rotfl2: well its the right continenet at least

am sure you will have a brilliant time , have you done a ca road trip before?

We flew to LA with Air New Zealand last year - they were great.

sounds cool, Id love to go there one time.
Have fun planning.xx:thumbsup2

You will love it! I've done something similar.

Yosemite is just breathtaking and make sure you visit San Fran too and take a trip out to Alcatraz.

It's worth going to visit Sequoia Woods too.

I'm so excited for you!

It'll be great:thumbsup2

I loved our trip to the west coast and could happily spend a couple of weeks just in Yosemite- it's absolutely beautiful and DL makes a nice change from WDW.

Thanks for the replies folks! We are planning a couple of days in SF with a trip to Alcatraz and if we have time a trip round the USS Hornet, also got Sequoia Woods marked in as well. Walking a trail in Yosemite has been on my bucket list for many a year and I am realy looking forward to that.

We had a day trip from SF 2 years ago into Napa Valley. It was stunning, we really loved it. I'd love to go back and can thoroughly recommend it.

Pam

book your trip to Alcatraz in advance as it sells out quickly! we had booked our tour and when we were in san Francisco the whole week we were there was booked solid so I'm glad we had booked! true and go for the evening tour if you can. its a smaller group allowed on the island, they have different activities and the sun set over the city. and bridge is amazing. I've never seen anything like it

Thanks for the advice, will try and book that soon, I think it is a Tuesday we are there, was planning a pm tour as I think we are going to stay over in Oaklandso we can maybe fit in a visit to the USS Hornet and catch the ferry across to SF.

I would have loved to do the wine tour to Napa :worried:, and that was in the original plan but it got axed in favour of the Golden Gate Bridge and John Muir Forrest. We will still be driving through the area but I am designated driver which doesn't make it as much fun but squeezes in an extra day in Yosemite.

the evening tour is amazing! you won't be disappointed.

Check out the Yosemite website, the only problem with October is that the later in the month you are there the more chance there is that some of the roads may be closed due to snow!! You should be okay unless like in 2004/2005 the snow comes really early!

Keeping my fingers crossed! I realy would like to do the 4 mile trail down from Glacier Point and we are planning driving over the Tioga pass to visit Mono Lake and stay over at Mamoth Lakes.
