Booked cruise with Costco but want to communicate directly with DCL

Did you check to see if the Costco price included insurance and/or transportation to/from the port?

Or if the categories are exactly the same? If Costco simply lists "Oceanview", they could be advertising an 8A while you are pricing out the 9C on the DCL site.

Here's an example:

Costco - March 11 Fantasy SWDAS sailing - cat 4A

And on DCL - the same cruise and cat, still 2 adults 1 stateroom:

Are you logged into your Costco travel account? The same thing happened to me but once i logged into my Costco account, the prices matched DCL's exactly.

I just went to confirm Iwas logged into my Costco travel account by logging in again and repeating the search. I get the same result, so I must have been logged in when I did that.

Are you Canadian and on the Canadian Costco site? I saw something about CAD and was thinking that maybe Costco is charging GST? As they are providing a service in Canada, whereas DCL is US based and not?

My guess is the one of the two sites is inaccurately displaying the port taxes and fees (either only showing 1/2 or doubling it). The difference between the two is 208.70 (which is the same as the Taxes, Fees and Port Expenses listed on the DCL version). Can you get the Costco site to break down that total amount into per person/taxes & fees?

Okay, yes, Canadian site.

Huh. It was giving me that one price all the way until I selected the next screen and was ready to enter passenger info. The only difference was moving on in the process.

At this point, I now get a new price. That would put people off of moving on. Very weird.

Just throwing this out there... when I look on the Costco site, it's $200 more for the same cruise as on the DCL site. Yes, I'll get $500 back, but the cruise price is $200 more, making my savings only $300. I know, it's still $300, but that's not as appealing as $500. It does pay to compare and do what's right for you. Another point is that the total cruise price comes out of your pocket, but your rebate comes back in Costco dollars, which can only be spent there. Great for most people, but not all. It's not the same as getting that amount knocked off the price of the cruise. Now if you could use the 'cash back' to pay for your cruise, that's a different story.

No it will be exactly the same as on the DCL website. Sometimes the port fees dont calculate correctly. In the last 10 cruises we booked with Costco, the price has been the exact same as DCL.

I always have to continue to where I input the passenger info (name, DOB, etc) on Costco's website to get an accurate price. Doesn't matter what cruise line I'm pricing out.

I think that's weird. It's a deterrent for people who don't know better. But I'm glad I know that now.

It doesn't cost more to book directly with DCL, you just don't get whatever perk a TA offers, i.e. Costco Gift Cards. Regardless, I have booked directly with DCL for my last few cruises.

Why would you throw away the perks you get? Booking with DCL does not deprive you of any benefits. But in our last few cruises alone I have gotten thousands in cash cards.
