I decided to act like I knew what I was talking about so I told the agent there I wanted to book for summer of 2005. She said I could book another date (say May), then change it because they don't have the dates yet. I said, "yes, I know--that's because you're going out of California." She said, "Oh, you know." She said she had to tell everyone else that it would be a new itinerary, but couldn't tell where. So, I don't know where they are going, but we do know it's out of California.

Also, I started feeling bad on Sunday and by Monday I had full blown stomach flu. I haven't felt that bad in at least 10 years. I know I lost any weight that I gained on the cruise (and more). My question is, should I contact Disney and let them know. Do they keep track of things like that? It's obvious I contracted it on the cruise. I am feeling better today (no more vomiting), but I am very weak and still in bed.

Otherwise it was a great cruise and it was great to meet all you Disboard people.

ok -- I give up. I've looked everywhere. Who did you book your "California" cruise through? Any more information?

Thanks,

Leslye

Don't bother contacting DCL about the stomach flu once you're off the ship. My DS got sick after dinner on Friday night. I've never seen him that sick. Around 2AM I was getting scared that he was completely dehydrated and called the nurse to see if they had meds I could give him and she really wanted nothing to do with me. She said nothing they could give him would stay in him anyway and that he couldn't possibly become dehydrated that fast and was done with me. (We once had a flu run through our house that put 2 of our kids in the hospital from dehydration, one very severe, and that happened within the 1st 24 hours of symptoms) I got the same flu from my DS a day after we got home.

I think it's common for germs of all kinds to be found on ships, planes and other places were so many people come together. There really isn't anything they can do to stop people from getting sick and although we've gotten sick on both our cruises I still think DCL is trying their best to keep the ship sanitized.

I'm gald to hear you're felling better. I hope you are back to normal very soon.

You could have contracted it on your flight.

Hope you're feeling well soon.

No, I couldn't book our California vacation now, she said we should book a date before summer and then when they announce summer dates out of California, I would change the booking. That way we got our 10% off and $200 stateroom credit.

I think I contracted it on the cruise because at the airport I could feel my lymph nodes on the back of my neck were very swollen. They are still swollen, but not as much now. I know DCL couldn't do anything for me--believe me I saw all the precautions they took, that place was incredibly clean and the kids had to wash their hands every time they went to the clubs--I just didn't know if they wanted to know so they could clean my stateroom a little more. I just wouldn't want anyone to go through what I went through. It was so bad, I told DH, I never want to go on a cruise again. I must be feeling much better because I'm starting to want to go again.

Sorry to hear you got sick! I was wondering why I didn't seem to run into you more on the cruise. My son Robby enjoyed meeting Ryan & the other boys (Chris, Adam, Nate). All the Dis people were great to meet!

My DD the CM sent home a recruiting video from DCL so we could have a better idea about ship life. It showed various Crew Members and their jobs. The room steward specifically mentioned his job of cleaning the rooms between guests and demonstrated cleaning EVERY surface. They don't take any chances so I'm sure whoever was in the room after you was OK.

Hope you're feeling much better.
