Booked BWV Pool/Garden View--Feel like I will be wasting precious points?

We have stayed at AKL Villas, BC Villas, OKW, and Saratoga--so we were looking for a different experience this June. We like the location and liveliness of the Boardwalk area, so we picked BWV for our 8-night stay. Garden/pool view was the only option available, so we grabbed that.

Now as I look into it further and all the comments I see, I am beginning to think we seriously overspent on points relative to the value of the room/view we will get. Do you concur? What advice, if any, do you have to make the most of this situation?

TIA for your counsel.

P.S. Can someone please re-instruct me as to how to delete and re-establish the signature ticker below this post. It is grossly outdated by 5 annual trips :( and I would like to put in the ticker for our new dates. Thanks.

I completely understand with the way you feel. We booked an upcoming trip at BWV with the G/P view and I too wondered if it was a good use of points. What helped me to get over it was the fact that I believed my points are not just for the room view or even the resort, but for the location of the resort as well. We have adult children so BWV is perfect for walking to Epcot and DHS. This makes the point usuage more acceptable to me. Just wished we could have gotten the boardwalk view for those same points!

You could wait list Standard and/or Boardwalk view if you're unsure about what you booked. If one becomes available your reservation will be changed. You can have two active wait list requests at a time.

If you stayed at BCV then BWV is no different with it's pool/garden view. Both resorts pts are about the same. I myself believe there are more better views at BWV pool/garden then at the BCv:goodvibes

I dont believe you are wasting points. We have stayed at AKL and stayed in a standard view there in the middle of nowhere and this location is close to a couple of the parks and some really nice restaurants. We have never stayed at boardwalk but have been there to visit. Will you be sitting for hours on a balcony anyways? We never find a whole lot of time to do so as there is so much to do at Disney anyways.

Points are never wasted at the BWV. Most of the views at the BW are far better than BCV for the same amount of points. For my family the location of the BWV fars outweighs any other considerations. Enjoy your stay!

They are also the same amount as a VWL stay. Preferred View Boardwalk points are "priced" comparatively - its just that standard view are a bargain. And in high demand. Which is why Boardwalk is a popular resort to own.

BWV views are great....we started with the Pool/Garden and graduated to the BW view. But this in November of 2011, we brought 21 family members down with us. We got all of them Standard Views to save on points.....I was impressed, they're not bad. So the next time we go down it's standard view all the way. We may go in April though, in which case we will be trying to get into BLT where some of our friends will be staying...waiting for airfare to drop:hourglass.

I think what makes you feel like you "overspent" is the odd fact that Boardwalk view does cost the same number of points as the Pool/Garden view. If they built that resort today, there definitely would be three different categories. (And more elevators, but that's a different story.) The BW view (which is incredible) is a points bargain when compared to Saratoga, for instance. But I admit having to spend the same points for Pool/Garden is odd. All I can say is it's a great resort, and hopefully you'll be happy with the place overall, regardless of what view you do get.

In regards to Signature, go to "USER CP" on the top menu, then Edit Signature, there you can remove the ticker!

The reality is that unless you own at bwv, standard is hard to come by. So even though you may be concerned about the point value, its academic because if you want to stay at boardwalk, most of the time for owners of other resorts garden/pool view is whats available. I would stick with it and maybe waitlist a different view.

You won't be disappointed at all. All the p/g rooms at Boardwalk have nice, relaxing views and guarantee you won't be stuck next to the roadway, or worse yet, the baggage delivery area (beep, beep, beep).

Agree about the baggage delivery area...we had that once ....thank goodness it was a short 2 night trip

I agree that it's not over spending - it's identical or very close to BCV and VWL. What gives that feeling is the great value of the BWV standard view or the guarantee of the boardwalk view while you'll have a bit of an unknown what you'll be looking at. But again that isn't any different than BCV or VWL.

And psac helped with the signature. It sure is time to update the ticker and prepare for a new trip! :lmao:

I think it is always a good idea to try something and form your own impressions. Only then will you know if it was a waste of points.

Personally BWV is the only DVC resort we will not go back to. Just not for us, but that is what is great about having choices.

Thanks, everyone, for the thoughtful replies and reassurances.

Happy New Year to all!

testing to see if new signature appears...OK what am i doing wrong here with the SIGNATURE??

We had a great quiet pool view at BWV. I would prefer that view over a Boardwalk view any day.

I agree with the post(s) that says the real value of a BWV room is being near Epcot and 15 - 20 minute walk/boat ride to DHS. Keep in mind you have a lot more dining options with those two parks, YC/BC and Swan/Dolphin, and the Boardwalk all so close together.

We stay at BWV quite a bit (home resort) and at the 11 month window book either BW view or standard view. That said, not all of our trips are booked right at the 11 month and we have stayed in many different garden/pool view rooms. Not that big of a deal though as we still get to stay at the resort. Typically we end up with a quiet pool view; what I enjoy most about those villas is seeing the canal and watching the boats going to/from Hollywood Studios. I also like seeing the Swan/Dolphin lit up at night. Depending which wing you are in, you can also see Tower of Terror and the glow from the fireworks at Fantasmic.

OK I know...I'm super dense...How/where do I get the image file [img]? I tried doing the step by step in USER CP and I don't see where I get that option? All I can do is to choose one of four ways as to how to post signature?

Sorry for my ongoing density...
