Please tell me it's not all bad!!! It was my second choice, I'm taking DH's niece, her husband and her 2 kids with me, my DH and DS. So 7 of us all together. My first choice was BLT, but it wasn't available with the military discount...so THV it is!!! I'm a little dissappointed, so please let me know it's alright!! We'll have cars, so transportation isn't an issue. I wanted BLT so we wouldn't have to fight the crowds after the fireworks!!

Why would it be bad? It's quiet, you have a private space, it's unique... the only issue I would see is the transportation, and you have that handled.

It really depends. They are fairly large (three bedrooms), nice living room/Kitchen area, spacious porch and isolated -- they are truly in the woods. A number can see part of a golf course. There is a quiet pool available to the THVs but walk to main pool at SSR can be lengthy. THVs are high demand for DVC members because many really like the isolation and space provided, paticularly if you are a seasoned WDW visitor who no longer needs to be right next to a park. In other words, they are great units to have as long as you are the type of person who will like that kind of unit. Trip to parks via bus can be very long but if you have a car you can drive.

One problem you will have is the plural "cars." You are provided parking for only one and a second car would need to be parked in the main SSR area.

Yikes about the cars situation. Yep, we'll have 2, unless for some miraculous reason we trade mine in for one that seats 7 or 8! LOL stranger things have happened. I like the isolation, and the bunks in the third bedroom idea, we have 2 boys going with us, 13 and 5 that we'll put in there, the baby will be with her parents in a pack and play, and of course me and DH in the master. There are some things that seem nice about it. We're going the end of may, so weather for the pool will be nice, as long as it isn't raining. I just want everything to be perfect for our Niece's first ever trip! I'm sure it will be.....I just worry!! LOL I like the fact that we can all stay together. We had 7 of us for a trip this past year in june, we got 2 rooms, and the dining plan was a nightmare! So this time, I didn't care the cost, I wanted us all together!!!

It will be FABULOUS. I love THV. Yes, maybe not as convenient as being at BWV or BC and walking to parks, but if you want to get to the main pool you don't have to walk. Take the BUS. It stops at the Springs and Grandstand. then jump back on and go back to the THVs. Problem solved.

You also have your own boat dock to DTD.

The units are fantastic (I want the curtains in my house!) They are just beautiful inside and out. They also each have their own bbq (you need charcoal but since you have a car that isn't a problem) and they have large patio tables and four chairs outside on the deck. (Much bigger than the balconies at SSR.)

You will have a wonderful time!

It honestly sounds like the perfect set up for your vacation. We just bought this past spring and are excited to try THV this March. We bought into SSR specifically to have the 3 bedrooms at THV. I'm not concerened aBout getting to the parks. We never have a car with us and always seem to manage. We've stayed at OKW twice and only had a bus issue once ot twice, but also had a bus issue at BWV and AKV once. We try and relax and go with the flow on vacation. If one bus ride takes 10 or 15 extra minutes, oh well. My kids are used to walking, so no complaints from them. And extra walkling means more Mickey ice cream bars without any weight gain in vacation!:rotfl:

Even though we are a family of 4, we wanted to stay in the THV. On our trip this past November, we were on a wait list for one which came thru. It was fabulous!! We have already booked and have been confirmed for our trip this coming November and can't wait!! You will love them. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Thanks everyone. I do feel better about it now!!! Thanks for the reassurance!! I may look into trading my car in for something bigger, I wanted something a little bigger anyways, I have a Ford Explorer, and want the Chevy Traverse. So we'll see I guess!!! I got a while to figure it out!! HAHA

Even with two cars, you can check and see what is going on while you are there. You want to be kind to your neighbors, but when we were there we didn't have a car and several of the villas near us were also using Disney transportation, so you might want to become "friends" with your neighbors and maybe if they don't have cars there will be extra spaces available. (yes, I am prepared to be flamed for suggesting this....ahh, the rules)

The THV's are great and if you really read up on them I think you will really enjoy them. If you are planning on drivng, I would suggest requesting near the north bus stop, it is near the entrance to the villas so you don't get stuck behind the busses, etc and will be easy to get in and out....a little further from the dock and walking path, but much better if you have a car. Also, if you have to park the second car at SSR you can park it in carousel (right inside the main gate) and it will only take a couple minutes carpool the second driver over to get it!

IT IS SOOOOO MUCH better than a 2 bedroom, with the party you are stating. The kids can have there own room and so can all the adults.

This is a blessing you will realize later.
The 4 more minutes of walking to a bus, will make up for putting the kids in a diff room and letting them wathc there own tv show. Having the view, outdoors, unique exper. will outway MK view and you prob paid less points too.
With the car/cars you are at the best of both worlds and you will love the Artists Pallet.

Thanks everyone!! With the perspectives you guys used, it does make alot more sense!! Still have a bit of time to go.....I can't wait, I'm ready to go!!! LOL

I own at SSR, can't stand SSR, but LOVE the THV!!! That is the primary reason I keep it, since there are only 60 something of them and I want the 11month window. Stayed there Halloween 2009 and LOVED them! I agree with getting to know your neighbors and see if you can get another parking spot over there. It is really fun there and I love the decor
